Great live stream Tone! I jumped on a little late so started from the beginning and have caught up now. So many great discussions. All this talk of the Capitol releases are maybe swaying me to purchase the albums individually too. We shall see! Quote of the stream for me: “I don’t own a mono cartridge because I don’t live in 1964.” That was definitely a massive laugh out loud moment!! It’s also super awesome to see you looking so good and hear your enthusiastic energy too. Keep up the terrific recovery mate!🎉🎉🎉

Looking great Tone and well done on your videos/streams. Re. The Capitol Beatles '64 LP box it's disgusting that U.S. buyers have to pay such a high premium for the Slipcase and Beatles story LP. These were their specific albums, what a way to reward a country who massively helped put The Beatles/Capitol/Apple on the map and the financial rewards that ensued. If anything they should have the lowest price in the U.S. P.S. Tone check out the latest Andrew's Parlogram video on the actual mix versions used on these albums - fold-down stereo, unique mono, standard UK mono, etc

Hello Tone. I am actually quite excited about the Beatles US 64 boxset. I already have the two Capitol CD sets and some original mono and stereo US vinyl copies of some of the LPs. But, this will be quite special to have them all on vinyl, in mono, and in a set, with hopefully, good remastering. I too originally wanted the Rubber Soul boxset release but given so many songs off it were redone by Giles for the Red album, I think this will be a bit more spectacular and interesting overall.

Yes I agree, the fact that we have already had half of Rubber Soul remixed has taken the shine off a Rubber Soul box set for me. Dont get me wrong, I still want it but Im happy to wait and looking forward to the Capitol albums in November

Glad to see your doing ok Tone. Like you i would include the Jam as one of my five best bands.If you like the Stones check out Voodu Lounge.Its the most musically varied album. The Elizabethian New Faces,Country music The Worst. Keiths amazing Thru and Thru.The album won a grammy for the best album .Its in my up there with a classic Stones best

Hi Tone , I saw the uncut magazine today , it’s called the ultimate guide to music , and this month it’s the Beatles , it’s not cheap it’s priced at £ 14.99 , but it very up to date on Beatles Releases , from the first Beatles single & Album to the most up to date ones . It’s worth getting , I’m getting mine when I go to work tomorrow as I saw it on my way back home .😊

Hi Tone have been watching this on catch up, always an enjoyable discussion. Glad to know you're doing well. Good to hear that like me you like Biker Like An Icon!! Always sad that Paul has never played Morse Moose and the Grey Goose live - that would have been quite something in concert, especially the rockier elements of the track. Not getting the Beatles USA releases, happy to stick to the UK versions and given the cost and brevity of each album they don't strike me as being great value for money. Just the 2-CD version of Living In the Material World for me as well as it really has all I want on it. All the best

There are 4 more gigs this year but because of my illness I'm not rejoining the band as far gigging goes until the 26th October date - that's my comeback gig. If you click 'all events ' on our page you you should see them ok.. If you click on the 'more' dropdown on our home page and then 'videos' there are loads of videos so you can see if we're your kind of thing

Tony, I live in the Philippines and surprisingly there a big and thriving vinyl community here and there is a big record fair in Manila at least once every two months and they are incredibly well attended. Also, there are lot record shops, including a large one 10 mins from where I live - I'm off there this morning as they tell me they have a couple crates of new arrivals. I have never seen a Beatles in Mono box set here (slight caveat, I have not been looking either) and if one popped up it would be mega expensive as it would have to be imported and I suspect there would be a mad scramble for it. I would be extremely confident in saying, there is no way one would get a Beatles in Mono box set here for £67, even the CD version. I'm always on the look out for locally pressed Kinks records, I know some exist, but never had a sniff of one. What you do however get, is lots of Japanese imports (mostly cheapish) and I have seen many of the red vinyl Odeon LPs with obis. There are indigenously pressed Filipino records from back in the day but they are incredibly rare and they are never ever cheap on the odd occasion they pop up, irrespective of condition - the only Beatles one I have seen, is Revolver and if my memory serves that worked out at something like £300+. BtW, you are looking great, hopefully health wise things are looking up for you. Keep up the good work and good to see you on KZbin. Cheers. Russell.

Most of these come from China or Japan . I did a video on what to look out for as quite a few fans got stung as well as a lot of fans happy to pick up a fake one because od the price … but probably not so much once they hear it 😂. Hope you picked up something nice from the record store trip and thanks as always for the info my friend

To my britpop comment, I understand that Damons voice isn't for everyone but his soft voice can be very beautiful like in To The End (where there is also a nice duet with french singer Francoise Hardy) and The Universal. Also he just is (looks) iconic in many ways and very talented.

Really enjoyed the live stream. Is it me or did the James Mccartney / Sean Lennon partnership song get missed by the media. I would have thought they would have made a big deal about it. People keep banging on about carnival of light, I just don’t care, from what I have read ( from someone who heard the song in the studio) it was just a tuneless noise.

One of the many problems with Apple is that it is so neurotically insular. It started during Neil Aspinall's time, of course, when he grew more and more suspicious of any outside input. I was chatting the other day to an old friend of Derek Taylor. He'd helped Apple with lots of projects up until the Anthology, and then: nothing. He became a non-person. He asked around and was eventually told that Apple resented an outsider getting any credit for its projects. So Apple keeps it all in-house, and the problem is there is no one 'in-house' who is that imaginative or alert. Everything is so bureaucratic and risk-aversive it's really hard for any ideas to get through the process.

Great stream. I love the suggestions of a new EP box set and a new UK Mono album box set. The second hand sales brings the companies no money, so odd they dont watch shows like yours and take note's. My point on the box sets is that these are businesses, Red, Blue and Mind Games all under performed. The Best performing Beatles/solo in many years is the "1" album. "1" is still in the charts, Red and Blue entered at 2&3 and dropped off badly. The Stones and Fleetwood Mac are performing much better. Streaming numbers arent really impressive either, apart from Here Comes The Sun. The Beatles people need to find a new stratergy. For the Beatles this is about protecting the material copyright and of course their legacy. For the business men it is about selling product. I think they need to shake things up. Box sets for us lot are king. We want the big boxes, with bells and whistles. For casual fans or new listeners, they need to come up with something new. Maybe its time to open up singles for remixes by todays top talent. We still keep the originals, but include a new mix on the single. It would get radio airplay, streams and generate chart hits for the lads. How great to see The Beatles back in the top 10 again. Plus draw new listeners to the albums. About time they released the UK singles again, lets have 12" picture discs or coloured vinyls. Include a new non Beatles style mix (do dine by a non Beatles person), that shakes it up a bit. If they carry on as they are, yes us nutters will buy SDE sets, but the lack of new fans, well its short sighted. Great work Tone, I'm now searching for you doing your Elvis C!!!

Yes I take your point and even if they do all the albums with a remix there will still be some stand alone singles and b sides that dont get a remix so maybe a remixed singles box is a good idea. A re-release of the 1982 + picture disc singles is a good idea especially as picture discs sound so much better now than they did back then. I wouldn't bother with the Elvis cover - it wasnt that great - first time we did it lol
