Hi Tone, lovely to see you looking great and getting your strength back. I was born in 1964 so needless to say my first first pressings were from sgt. Pepper’s to Let it Be. Thanks to mom and dad. By the time I was old enough to buy my own LPs the 1964 through 1966 LPs were already on Apple. I did spend my adult years collecting all the Capital rainbow dome mono 1st pressings. I will be very interested in comparing the sound. On to my gripe. I pre-ordered from the Beatles website, and I will not be getting my order until after thanksgiving. (A week from today). That is so frustrating. I got my pre ordered Living in the Material World super deluxe box set from Amazon, and it was delivered on the day of release. Heck. You are all the way across the Atlantic and you got yours way faster than me. 😡. Well I’m glad you did so I could here your video and live vicariously through you for at least a week. Stay well my friend. I always look forward to your posts.

Second-generation American fan here. I grew up with these albums (albeit the stereo versions), which could still be purchased in shops in the 80s. I adore the original UK albums, but these US releases will always have a special place in my heart. Never owned mono versions, so looking forward to hearing these reissues. Enjoy your videos!

Totally get it Bryan - the albums that you grew up mean everything. As a second generation UK fan I grew up with the Stereo Uk albums. The US albums are really hard to find here and if we do come across one they are really expensive . So like you Im glad to see this released. These are not just the USA albums, but these albums were issued by EMI worldwide back in the 1960s. Japan, Germany, Jamaica, Mexico, Canada, etc. The overseas versions were many times on the Odeon label.

Hey Tone, in terms of nostalgic memories they are important. That said mostly it was Capitols greed and financial considerations had to be accounted for to put 12 songs or more on an album. I can say as a kid from that era, it was exciting to have a new Beatles album at any time.

Thanks for this vid Tone. I only ordered Meet The Beatles and Beatles '65 purely to upgrade on the copies I already have that have seen better days, and can now enjoy retirement on my record shelves. These albums arrived this morning so I only had chance to open them and have a quick look before I had to get ready for work. However once I've played these albums and given them a deep dive I may or may not look to ordering the others. I kind've get the pros and cons of these mixes. They were done not only because albums in the States only ran to between 10-12 songs and FM Radio was already becoming popular in the US, so they were mixed I believe to beef them up for broadcast. To me it's The Beatles, the greatest band of all time, so either way it's not something I get bothered about. The two albums that I got today look beautiful, really nice pieces of vinyl, and like Paul's Grandfather "They're very clean". So, looking forward to sitting down this weekend with a cup of tea and some jaffa cakes and immersing myself in these albums, back to the days of Beatlemania, when they came to town to talk about their trousers, or was that another band I was thinking of ? Maybe Herman and his Helmets.. Any how, you have a great weekend Tone and enjoy these albums...

I bought that The Beatles' Story in a second hand store when I was a teenager back in around mid 80's, knew nothing about it and boy... was I surprised and also quite angry, not least at myself 😳 Never played it again. Still own it mind. Splendid video Tone 😊

Can't believe you didn't want another copy of The Beatles Story, Tone! I'm waiting for my boxset to ship, so hopefully I'll have it next week. But I do feel like Apple missed an opportunity here to revisit the early Parlophone mono LPs and do a combined US/UK mono box, similar to the Rolling Stones mono box.

Personally I think apple will include the mono albums in the box sets for the early albums and thats probably the reason the mono box on vinyl wont get a re-release any time soon. I bought mine in 2014 when it came out for around £300 - a re-release will probably be around double that at today's prices so I think they will shy away from it. I hope your box arrives soon and enjoy it when it does my friend

Hey Tone, another cool video. In 1976, I started buying these and in my album diary book, I paid brand new between $3.49 and $3.99 for each (beatles story 4.99) hope you enjoy the different mixes and song groupings. Love meet the beatles, beatles second album, something new, beatles 65...AHD Night much prefer English release, like Help. Always felt gyped getting beatles film incidental music instead of beatles songs...early beatles is introducing beatles vee Jay for me, useless except for Capitol records cash grab for us completists lol..I had to buy early beatles in early 1977 to complete collection up to that time. I listened to early beatles and beatles story.... once...hahaha.

Hey Russ, Im still chuckling about your album diary book whilst half wishing that I'd kept one😂 Well these albums and 10 times that price now whihc if you say it quickly doesnt sound too bad. Capitol doesnt recognise the fact that they rejected (or rather Dave Dexter did) The Beatles 4 times and dont acknowledge Vee-Jay by name on the Early beatles. Ive played that album and MTB so far and both sound fantastic

So glad to see you looking more and more healthy, Tone! I'll be looking forward to your review of these albums. Be prepared for a Reverb fest, as Dave Dexter tended to add a ton of it to the mixes. These are the versions I heard growing up. First albums I ever had were Meet The Beatles, Second Album, and Beatles '65, which I 'stole' from my mother when I was 4 or 5 years old LOL. All mono versions, not in great shape but I still have them and they still play through with no problems other than the usual scratchy sound. Great video, by the way!

Beatley Tone I'm really impressed with this Beatles '64 Capital mono albums and Dave Dexter remix this sounds awesome to me excellent sound quality and I love the album covers and Spitzer essays on each album very good packaging and great quality I love the song selection and sequence I hope they do a second box set with Capital American Rubber soul which I think is a better song selection still has the original album cover! Great information Beatley Tone and history lesson on Capitol mono albums! To me this is big news its just a different remix back in 1964 compared to George Martin or a Giles Martin remix of today same songs definitely stronger sound than George Martin mix of the day thicker sound in mono I think it's great I wish this would have come out on Cd also with all the nice packaging because the 2014 box set Capitol US versions are the 2009 remaster no The Dave Dexter mix ! If the sells good hopefully Apple Capital Universal will continue this box set and do all Capital albums with Dave Dexter mixes and do a cd box set too with all original cover art! Thanks Tone excellent unboxing this is cool stuff! Let's hope this does well on UK charts and Billboard

The Cd box that came out before that one had the proper mixes on it so thats the one to go for if you want it on CD. I also hope they put out the rest of the US albums on vinyl

@beatleytonesbeatleschannel Thanks Beatley Tone for the information I know the 2004 and 2006 Capital box sets first 8 American releases it was on Dave Dexter mixes mono with reverb and also it had stereo mixes on it too the only thing was the packaging was very cheap and not well done looked very poor but I guess it was sufficient and the 2014 Capital U.S. versions were very nicely done it was extremely excellent packaging perfect except the mixes were from 2009 remaster put in a Capital albums box so if you have 2009 UK box you got the same in2014 Capitol versions thanks Tone have a great day!

Be prepared for Beatles ‘65 and the reverb. I think the story is that Martin had added some reverb during the mixing process and Dexter added additional reverb which intensified the effect to an extent that I think is distracting. It’s probably most noticeable on I Feel Fine and She’s A Woman. Being a second generation Beatles fan, I’m used to the UK mixes and sequences, despite being American. These are interesting as curiosities if you’re not familiar with them, but I still prefer the UK albums for more reasons than one. IMO, MTB and ‘65 are my favorites.

My box set hasn't arrived yet, I have received the HMV blue vinyl. It is superb, sleeve, inner sleeve and booklet are superb. The blue vinyl looks stunning. I am now listening to the tracks picking out differences.

Hi Tone, great video, you're right about the prize for the box, but... I bought anyway although I have an almost unplayd Beatles Story copy. I wanted to tell you here in Uruguay unlike all the others Beates records, A Hard Day's Night was released following the american version, so here we had that same version, years later it was released the UK version, but the first one and many later versions that were released with many different covers were this one with the instrumental tracks.

Hey Tone, got mine delivered today. Went for the box release and ordered the specially released Meet the Beatles blue vinyl, which looks great. I do have all of the original American released Beatles LP's (1960's & 1970's pressings) and, I am very familiar with them all and the Dave Dexter mixes, which are most prominent on the Beatles second album in the way they sound, in a echo/reverby type sound and this sound effect was more prominent on the original released albums stereo editions, which were released equally in mono as well as stereo in the USA. In England the same thing happened, (Not the Dave Dexter mixes) with the British LP releases at the time but, the stereo versions were far less common in the British catalogue on first release at the time.

Hi Tone! Once again... A+ Video! Fun to watch and nice to be able to zoom in and read the details. (I have the original USA albums, so I skipped this set). - You'll get a kick out of Thank You Girl. It is a different version - it has extra harmonica in it, and my favorite American song version "She's A Woman" -- needs to be wet- dripping in reverb! :) I can't stand the dry version, because it sounds like something is missing.

The most impressive fact was the Beatles "released" six US LPs, in 1964, from VeeJay's Introducing, to Beatles '65, with two UK releases recycled among them (featuring 28 songs, 16 originals, 12 covers). There are two versions of Introducing, with Love Me Do and PS I love You left off in favor of Please Please Me and Ask Me Why. Essentially, the VeeJay release is a second-rate copy of the first UK album, Please Please Me. The six albums delivered 49 original songs (I Saw Her Standing There was released on both Introducing, and Meet, and four songs from AHDN were replicated on Something New), with 18 covers (plus one German-language dub), and an impressive 31 originals, including tunes like She Loves You, A Hard Day's Night, And I Love Her, Can't Buy Me Love, I'm a Loser, and I Feel Fine. The rest of the Beatles' original releases, mostly covers, would be issued on Early Beatles, in Mar 1965. The first Capitol album collects all Lennon/McCartney tunes, making the Beatles the first group to debut in the US with an album of self-penned rock 'n' roll songs, many still listenable, today. The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson was credited with much of that band's early songs, but they've been updated with co-writers in the decades since, many with non-band members, most notably Gary Usher and Roger Christian. The Beach Boys released six albums, each with 12 cuts, and a Christmas album, with three Brian Wilson originals (one still played during the holidays), from Oct 1, 1962 (five months, three weeks before Please Please Me), to Nov 9, 1964 (25 days before the Beatles' last 1964 release), with a total of 72 songs, 17 of them covers (most of the Christmas album), and some questionable tracks, although non-band "co-writers" were common throughout, and several tracks afe goofball "wasting time in the studio" exercises in being teenagers. The Beatles released four albums in the UK, through the end of 1964, with a total of 55 songs, plus a ten single tracks not included on their albums, for 65 songs recorded by the band between Sept 4 1962, and Oct 18, 1964, all of them full recordings of songs, none of them Christmas songs. If we disregard the Beach Boys' Christmas covers, the bands outputs are equal, in number, but far apart in quality, despite flashes of genius from Brian Wilson. If we tighten the standards, limiting selection to songs that charted, or otherwise stood the test of time, the Beach Boys come up short, with about 22 songs (including two re-recorded single versions), all originals ( most with co-writers), and two song repeated on two LPs, Shut Down, and Little Deuce Coupe (with the former song also featured in a "Part II" excursion). Brian re-recorded Be True to Your School, for a single release in 1963, and Fun, Fun, Fun, for a 1964 single release, (he'd do the dame with Help Me Rhonda, in '65, first released on Today, then in an improved version as a single, a month and a half later).

I really dig the reproductions of the inner sleeves from the original times of release. That is really cool. I doubt they'll do this. But it would be nice if they did the Canadian albums. They didn't truncate any of the material and they're supposed to be mastered very nicely.

Before the internet and only 2 TV channels, this was cool when I got it in the sixties and what really sold me, was the beautiful cover with the British flag and because of the Beatles, anything British was cool to me. I probably listened to it at least 10 times because I remember a few scratches and I bought it brand new in stereo and 55 years later I can still remember the parts that were funny, like a father saying that the Beatles and their Fan's were like a bunch of monkeys, Monkey see Monkey do. Also a girl telling Ringo that he was with some girlfriend of hers (probably lying to impress) and Ringo says " that's another lousy lummox, I've never met the girl" and they cue the sad music for the narrator who says" his mother died when he was 14 " also are you millionaire's? No but a lot of it goes to her Majesty, and she's a millionaire. Fabulous cheeky witty comebacks made everyone including parents,fall in love with them

Hey Tone, Might want to rethink the “pricey” box. The “in-groove” in Arizona is a recognized large dealer and he only received 80%, or so of his pre-orders. He’s saying that when these are gone, there will most likely not be anymore coming any time soon, if at all. Now, he’s gotta offer refunds, or swap the orders out for the single records. This might be one reason for the extraordinary sky high price for the box. We’ll see down the road I suppose.

My Canadian Beatles 65 only shows 2 of the American albums on the back cover, something new and Beatles story because they show the 3 Canadian Capitol LP's Beatlemania with the Beatles the Beatles long tall Sally and the fantastic twist and shout

It’s fun seeing you analyzing all the Capitol quirks and features. I think my parent’s original Early Beatles has a fuzzy photo like that too. So they’re just sticking true to the original. Even though these LPs look and probably sound good, I've already bought them in various formats three or four times already. These LPs are what I grew up with and the Second Album remains one of my very favorite Beatle albums (it flat out rocks!). I never did buy the Beatles Story though. I hope you enjoy experiencing some of the excitement that US fans did back in the day, Tone. (Coincidentally, the power went out here on Wednesday as well due to a wind storm.)

Tony, cheers mate! Great review vid. Heard you questioning "The Beatles Songbook," this was another cash grab on the Beatles, in that it was instrumental covers of Beatles songs by the Hollyridge Strings. Pure crap if you ask me. On the reissue LPs, the inner sleeves are all replicas of the original, albeit on heavier paper stock. The individual covers are also replicas but printed directly on the cardstock, instead of pasted on. I had initially decided to not preorder the box set, but planned to wait for a cheaper price after release. However, I heard some news that Apple was cutting item allocations, by as much as 75+ percent, so I panic ordered my box from Amazon Thursday night. My box arrived less than 18 hours later. Too bad georgeharrison or Target couldn't figure out how to get my preorders from them day of release. GH took 6 days and Target will be 5 days after release. Now it's on to RSD on black Friday! Cheers!

Hi Tone I picked up the complete box today. The difference in price between the box and the separate albums was 45 Euro, around 40 quid like in Britain. I listened to Meet The Beatles, and it's very quiet vinyl and the sound .... I was amazed how good they sound. It definitely got my interest, and I'm glad I bought the box. I already had some American albums, but anyway ......... I had to have this. These albums are great and like you said ... there is a historical importance. My favourites in this box are The Beatles Second Album and Beatles '65. I hope they will release all the other American albums as well. Enjoy listening. By the way..... you mentioned Frank Sinatra. Have you ever heard his album Watertown? If not, I very recommend to give it a try. Take care.

As to why it's good you bought the single individual lps. It seems the ones in the box set are not only not sealed. The sleeves are lower quality. It seems from what I've heard from the other people who've opened this box that is that they look more like Xerox copies of the covers. Wow, thanks for charging us all that extra money to get a lower quality one than the individual ones you did the best thing you could if you were going to get these inferior goodies.

We are experiencing a storm of biblical proportions here in Northern California, so my Amazon delivery was even later in the day than usual, BUT it did show up unlike my Living In The Material World SDE, which has now been delayed a further 5-7 days. The Target blue vinyl Meet The Beatles is using the same pony express delivery service that The Beatles Store uses, so it won't be here for 7-10 days. In my case, I went for the box because nearly this entire purchase was funded by Amazon points. The shipping box was really packed well and everything included was 100% intact, shiny and new. I am just going by aesthetic here and not sound quality, as I just discovered my turntable is not hooked up to the still somewhat new computer, so after I find the correct cable, I'll get a fresh start tomorrow morning. As someone who lived and breathed these albums for the first 24 years of my life, it's a bit of a quibble that the covers are shiny and not the matte cardboard, as you noticed, the photos are nowhere near as sharp as the originals (although The Early Beatles was never the best quality photo) and the label coloring is also not as warm. I'm hoping the sound quality blows me away tomorrow, but I'm starting to feel the urge to again stop with new vinyl, unless it something that's vinyl exclusive. And, a few points of info: Wayne Newton had one smash hit in 1963 with Danke Shoen and then went on to be Mr. Las Vegas (where he still performs) and The Hollyridge Strings is basically muzak. There are a few Beatles themed albums released. Ok, that's it. I hope you are well and am looking forward to the LITMW review, as well as what you think of the sound quality of these albums.

I can see the attraction, I had most of these, as where I grew up in Manchester in the late 70s there was this big warehouse selling US imports called ‘Yanks’ & they were sooo cheap then. I remember they looked inferior, poor packaging, right down to blurry photo images, so much so I wondered if they were legit! Not something I will be getting however. I'm sort of surprised that these have appeared now other than as a an anniversary of the first US visit. Other than vague curiosity I don't think that there was a major interest for these elsewhere. I was in HMV this morning and they were there - £39.99 each! Hmm! That seems to be taking the Michael. Are any of these much over 25 minutes long? Anyway least said the better. Can we get on with remixed/expanded UK albums now! Have liked the video out of curiosity, but have no interest in adding these to the collection. That said, my Living In The Material World SDE arrived yesterday, which offset the disappointment of no Beatles' reissue this year, so looking forward to your review of that. Cheers!

You're welcome Dave, glad you enjoyed the video. I can totally understand why Beatles fans from outside the UK are interested in these - I explained my reason in the video and I stand by it. I think the pre-sale of this (ie the fact they have completely under-estimated the demand and cannot fulfil the pre-orders) kind of bears this out. £7 cheaper per album from the official site but yes these albums are short. I made to the end of one over the weekend without having to go for a wee during playback :-) As for anniversaries - do any think from our camps hit an anniversary these days, Revolver, Mind Games, LITMW, A Hard Days night. Anniversaries are not really that important - getting these things out to us any time is in my book. Glad you've got your LITMW box - enjoy and thanks for the like . This video got 5 dislikes so far. I dont think people understand that the like button is for the effort that has gone into making the video and the content, not because they dont like the product. I got my copy of meet the Beatles and Beatles 65 and the early Beatles, I was never a fan of the US album’s because of the Capitol Records treatment of the set list of the songs and the Dave Dexter Reverb. But I have to say that they sound pretty good I was surprised. I’ll get other albums next week without the Beatles Story

I have the UK Beatles in mono LP and CD sets and there is a massive gulf between the sound quality of the vinyl and CD box sets with vinyl being far superior so Im expecting good things from these LPs. The Beatles themselves distanced themselves from these product as the track lists were changed from their carefully considered originals and track count reduced to allow additional album to be ‘created’ from the leftovers.

Yeah there are some minor differences of that kind on the US albums Paul which are pretty inconsequential but they aren't really my reasons for dining in. I can see why many people outside the US would go for these - I explain my reasons in the video. I think there has been a much bigger take up of these albums than they expected. It seems that a lot of pre-orders cant be fulfilled because they didnt press enough to meet the demand. It's the UK mono box set fiasco all over again

Not really interested in the US stuff but I did have another look at it yesterday. 230 is too rich for me at 130 I might have a look. Don't laugh, the Clapton 8 lp and 3 blu ray I bought for 260 last year can now be had for 130 at HMV... so you never know.

I tried to get the big box set. I had two options to get this for a really good price. I picked one, and it fell through. They didn't get enough in, and seemed to only ship to their mainland European customers. And based on what I'm seeing, the other cheaper option would have fell through as well. Oh well. So, I'll pass. I'm not interested in getting the six LP's separately. I have late '70's/ early '80's pressings of all seven Capitol albums in this set.

@@beatleytonesbeatleschannel I got the Rory Gallagher "The BBC Collection" box set instead. The Canadian Amazon site is about the last retailer in the world who still has it available. I guess no one in Canada knows who Rory Gallagher was. ha! And it was about the same price. I've been going through the audio and video contents, and I'm very impressed with this BBC box set. I guess it was meant to be, for me to get this box set instead. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get The Beatles' box set, but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

WARNING- received Beatles 65 today put it on and side 1 played flawlessly but side two skipped constantly,it was horrible already filed with Amazon to return and get a replacement

Do a sound quality review. And compare it to the uk versions. They are vastly different. Especially she’s a woman and I feel fine. U will be surprised

Canadian Capitals were better and I beleive the first 4 were different from the USA then after both were the same but Canadian ones were still better still.
