This is...fucking stunning. Bemani deserves FAR more awareness and recognition for it's place in gaming history. Stuff like this is a work of historic archival importance and I say that with no exaggeration. Great job.

Interesting that some these samples also would use on many songs from the first Dance Dance Revolution games, mainly from DDR 1st to EXTREME. Mostly BEMANI composers like Slake, Naoki, 2MB, dj nagureo, use these samples for him compositions on early BEMANI games. (1997 - 2003)

Sonic fans should recognize 43:10 as it was used in the Chao race music in Sonic Adventure 2. And 48:40 has been used in many things, but I remember it best as a ringtone for an old cellphone I had.

This is the coolest bemani related content on here. Playing beatmania imports in the early 00s was such a formative period for teenaged me musically and its so cool to hear the cultural synthesis with the sampling and references that the game was doing. There literally has been nothing like it since!

I just mentioned in a chat it's funny how many of the older bemani songs were just sample folders with additional bits or vocal samples laid on a song such as Latin and it's remix in pop'n, or put your faith in my, let them move.

Cool AF. 30 years arcade tech and longer playing. I had beatmania 2nd for PS, my friend had a bootleg, and when I worked at Blockbuster, my cool ass manager would let me bring my PS in and we would play after hours. Hellscaper was insane! That was my intro to BEMANI, and I own a DDR(I played compet. and ran tourns when I had a namco store), and a Pop'n Music(my kid is becoming a compet pro player) cab, plus 20 something more machines. I was aware of sample CDs, but at the time I didn't know the purpose of them, as I'm not a musician.
