Spot on review of the sound of these mate! Keep up the great work. You captured my exact thoughts about these perfectly! Great description of the sound. I really thought these were fun and quite liked them for jamming out LOUD as the rolled off treble kept them from being harsh and the mids were smooth and "oh that bass". But I returned mine as I just couldn't get over the comfort aspect. I wear glasses as well and they killed my ears. Even with my glasses resting on top my ears would still hurt from the clamping after an hour or so.

I went through a pair of M50x and DT770's before buying the Solo 2. Finally! This is what I wanted my music to sound like! Sometimes the "audiophile" choice is not the pop music choice. Great headphones.

Sweet review! I seriously hope your review will help open some peoples eyes to beats hope to get a pair soon myself, i think the matte white or the glossy white looks snazzy myself. I liked it when i plugged it into my ipod touch in the apple store. similar to what you said the treble could use a bit more definition and i think because of that the overall sound doesn't "sound" as clean as the amperiors.

haha i think the same too, i wish beats released studios without ANC, similar with the PSB m4u2 and m4u1. I think is a capable headphone without all that electronics (adding weight to it as well) as well as other inconveniences

I bet you that it ISN'T a capable headphone without all the electronics, considering that they never gave you the option to listen without the ANC turned out. That makes me think there is a lot of DSP magic going on to make it sound like the way it does...

I completely agree with your impressions about the carry case being too small. I found that if you put them in with the headband facing the zipper, it works best, but still somewhat tedious. Comfort is an area where you and I differ. I find them very comfortable even with glasses. I actually enjoy the clamping force. Never feels too strong to me. Feels like they will make great ear muffs in those winter months. LOVE the plush ear pads. While I feel the solo doesn't sound overly bad perse, I still find it far from recommendable due to its constricted dynamics. To me they hide too much information in comparison to the m80's. Can't wait to see those im50's reviewed!!! I am an IEM fanatic! Haha... Much love for ya lach!

Your review is spot on Lachlan, the beats02 have a very fun and enjoyable sound that gives music life. I will always prefer my dt770s though, even to the hd800 I love my dt770s for their unique soundstage and bass response. Maybe one day I'll grab a pair of these new beats!

I bought these on a whim at bestbuy because I did like the design of them and the pads I liked the feel better then the V-moda XS. These are still Bass Heavy but it is controlled and the highs aren't screeching. XS has a better build but I think i generally liked the Sound of the Beats solo 2 which is a shocker. Sound isolation i found quite better on the XS then the Solo 2

Managed to pick up a pair for about $110 USD. Much better than the last gen solos. EQ'd down a bit of the bass and brought the mids up some and they're pretty awesome!

I agreed with literally every thing you said about the Solo's 2 in this review, I recently bought them the other day. IMO, these are great, the bass is fantastic sound is beautiful and the noise cancelation is great especially for a on ear headphones. Unfortunately I agree with the clamping feel of the headphones, which I would consider the ONLY con of these. Keep in mind that over time they should start to "mold" into your head shape at least a little. Dont mind what you said about the treble considering I'm a bass head lol. Again nice review, cheers.

Lachlan, how do they compare to the Momentum on-ears? I have the over-ears but I actually do like the bass on the on-ears for my rock/hip hop/electronic music (which is what my playlist looks like when I'm on transit.) I know they're not your cup of tea but I was just wondering your opinion.

Amperior blows away both of them but on a amp once you put it in a phone you lose bass while the Beats bass does not get affected by a phone amp source not sure about the V-Moda 100's though. The Klipsch Image Solo II for the money are a better buy.

The pair which I am returning seems to fit into its pouch OK as long as the headband is facing the zipper. I wear glasses and the clamping is painful for me. It is OK if I take my glasses off though. I am returning my pair not so much because I hate this pair, just because I decided that the Sennheiser Momentum 2 Wireless or the B&O H8 is the better buy for my money. Great review lachlan. Would these be great for Hard Rock (Zep, Deep Purple, Sabbath), & Classic Rock such as the Eagles. I have the Atm50's & hate the piercing highs.

Baz Jed The Solo2 would be pretty good and the highs should be a bit more restrained. That said if you wanted something more balanced, still with smooth highs, consider the Beyerdynamic T51P / T51i. They're less bassy than the Solo 2 and a bit less mid forward too. Guitars will sound a bit crunchier on the Solo 2 though precisely because of that mid forwardness.

They isolate well. They have a strong clamp and are a fully sealed design. Not all on-ear headphones isolate poorly - DJs like using the Sennheiser HD25 for instance.

***** I know this is a old video but, I just wanted some conversation with you about the Beats Solo 2. I own a pair of these right now and I got them for my Christmas. I used them and I was pretty suprised because It sounded better then I thought they would. I usually listen to hip hop so these were perfect to me. But as I used it more often the durability kicked in. I used it for 2 months and the cables mic part broke and fell off. I was able to use it except the mic was unusable. I was very sad at that point. Then the extra 4 months came in and I had them around my neck. When i grabbed my headphones to put it on my head, the left side completely snapped. I was obviously unhappy since I only used it for 6 months and they are worth around 250$ when I bought them. Now I have a extra budget in my hands so Im willing to buy a new set of headphones since I cant deal with these crappy apple ear phones. I have around 200$ or less. Any suggestions? Im looking for noise isolation, excellent quality sound, enough bass ( I listen to hip hop) , I dont mind the comfterbility of weight but I do mind the comfterbility around my ear. I only ask because I noticed the white interior of the case-- I got a pair as a gift that had the same white inside that turned out to be counterfeits from China. I really need help. I've been looking for a pair of headphones for few months now. I (somehow) manage to sell my VERY disappointing Beats studios and manged to get around $350. My problem with most headphone design is that they try to look like they belong in a studio but i dont want that because im not a douchebag i want a pair that look nice but not like im in metallica recording a new album. Bose and beats do it best

How can anyone do reviews it seems kind of hard not knowing what exactly people want to hear when you say in depth

Stumbled onto your channel a few times now (in my search to make an informed purchasing decision) and during my time here, I couldn't help but get a weird feeling whenever you arrived at the "Sound" section in your reviews (though not limited to)... And I'm sorry to say, that you don't appear genuine in your analysis. That is to say, that a notable amount of the "observations" expressed here are summaries made from the opinions and findings of other parties..... So my problem here is originality. You have cited the "Notice of Fair Use" above which allows for "relating graphical and visual content" to be used in junction with "Observations"(the foundation on which this right stands), but it would appear to me that yours are not completely your own. That being said, I'm not here to demonize you, rather to suggest that (in the future) come to a "full conclusion" yourself first, then seek out secondary sources to support or compare later on if you must, not the other way round. There's no shame in referring to other sources for information. Only when claiming it as your own...
