Not sure but it looks like the sequencer backwards mode has been implemented wrong like on nearly every other sequencer as well. If the forward step order is 1, 2, ..., 15, 16 the backward order should NOT be like 16, 15,..., 2, 1 To be correct it has to be 1, 16, 15, ..., 3, 2 which means it always has to start with step 1 and then going to step 16 instead of starting with step 16. This then allows all the down beats to remain on down beats, and off beats to remain on off beats. so it does not mess up your rhythm.

Hi everyone The Beatstep was my first hardware sequencer. I bought it presuming I could send multiple sequences to each of my hardware synths. Quickly it turned out the Beatstep didn't do that. One sequence for all. A beginner's mistake which almost made me sell it. However I didn't sell it and now I'm thinking of giving it a second chance because I kind of like the way it works. One thing just keeps puzzling me though, and I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere. I hope you guys can help me out. In the MIDI control center you have the option to change the global (MIDI) channel but also the CV/Gate channel and the sequencer channel. Do these options give me the possibility to send a separate sequence via MIDI to one synth and another separate sequence via CV/Gate? And if so, how exactly do I set this up? Many thanks in advance Cheers Ruben Modify message
@AngstBro6 жыл бұрын
I don't own a beatstep, but I suppose you could if your synths have MIDI Through, you could daisy chain them together on a different channel on each of the synths. MIDI Through sends MIDI messages from one piece of gear to another, they just have to be on different MIDI channels, you just need to have a different channel running on each synth with a different sequence for every channel/synth.

morfu Lots of fun. I really like the "Bounce" mode of the Tenori-on /watch?v=YRPcbX0rktc All of the different Tenori-on play modes give you a lot more possibilities than just normal step sequencing. With the Waldorf Blofeld having 16 parts, each layer of the Tenori-on can play the respective part on the Blofeld. The parts and layers correspond to MIDI channels 1 thru 16. The Blofeld does have limitations though, depending on the Blofeld patches being triggered. Here is a little test of mine /watch?v=zUZ_wY6eJ8o I tend to use the Tenori-on rotated 90 or 180 degrees to get the cabling out of the way.

There are many complaints about the MIDI Control Center. There is no Linux-version (by the way, one could make an on-line version). Weak possibilities for customizing MIDI controllers. I have long wanted to see an update for BeatStep, which includes: 0) Indication of the note, selected by the encoder! At least some! It would be nice to see the indication of the notes assigned to the PADs. Can be RGB backlit. 1) MicroUSB connector (and separate power connector). 2) Ability to assign chords and entire MIDI CC# chains to PADs. It is important!!! 3) Please remove the wild, brutal, eye-tearing BLUE backlight! Better yet, let the user choose the backlight color himself. 4) Sidewalls without stickers (stickers on the sidewalls cling to the palms all the time). 5) Standard MIDI TRS connector. 6) Operation manual in Russian. Can't do it yourself? Invite the user community to translate. I am sure it will be translated for you for 500 Euro. For example, I am ready to do this (especially since I am a professional technical writer with PhD :)) 7) Offline setup for BeatStep would be very, very important. Yes, your device can be still use. And it is unique in its own way. But don't you want to make better products?

I personally own the MiniLab and I can say that the software and keyboards that arturia make are great, however their drum machines are not so great....

Curious what you mean by their drum machines not being so great... Is the pad quality poor, or something else?
@GnarlyCharly10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the pad quality is pretty poor and they are just hard to work with, unlike the MPDs or MPCs or Maschine series.

LOL I guess that just goes to show how varied personal preference is. I own the MiniLab as well. I purchased an Akai MPD because I wanted more/better pads, and absolutely hated the thing. The MPD took way too much pressure to get the pads to trigger for me. I guess that's why they don't just make them all the same.

Good point, but which MPD did you purchase??? I personally own the 32 and its pads were awful until I put "Thick Fat Pads" on it.. A complete game changer..

TakeAGnarBar you can also DIY it by sticking a few layers of electrical tape under each pad.. worked for me

3 questions: - Can it trigger " ACCENT" ? - Can it save sequences? - Can it run 2 parrallel / random 1-8 sequences?
