Now you must go back to their first album 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' which I Robot followed.

I Highly recommend the album prior to I Robot called Tales of Mystery and Imagination, 1976 original or the Remixed 1987 version, which is exactly the same album only a little bit extended both equally Amazing! Both versions have otherworldly quality to them. Check it out. By The Alan Parsons Project 1976 classic

I saw them in concert 2 years ago and they played this entire album live.

Day After Day is one of my favorite APP songs. Incredibly relatable lyrics. Beautiful instrumentation and backing vocals. Thanks for reviewing this great album!

Yes the memories flood back. The record is in my collection but I haven’t played it for 30 years! It’s remarkable how much good music you can have sitting on the shelf and you just forget how great it was. Will fire this one up on the weekend!

I never considered how Floydish his music could be, though I enjoy Alan Parsons much more than PF. I especially noticed it on “Day After Day” just before you made mention of it! I think this side 2 especially is tailor made for the listener to just get lost in the sauce. Again, I hope you’ll get around to doing “Pyramid” too.

Listening to this brings a flood of memories. The Poe themed album is still an all time favorite but I must have owned this at some time and I must have listened to it a lot because it all sounds very familiar. I had completely forgotten about it. Thanks for reminding me

Some pretty cool sounds on this side. I definitely hear the Floyd similarities. I really like the Genesis track!

Day after Day is Sooo Alan Parsons, and Total Eclipse sounds like Vangelis in Blade Runner. Another song in there sounds like a Dark Side of The Moon lost track.

Curious to hear that you're originally from Suffolk, same as myself! I used to take the bus up to Norwich with my Dad. Bought my very first Beatles record there with him. What a great memory that is!

Hi Jim, Nice to hear you like this great album. There are more; the first five are great. Tales of mystery and imagination by Edgar Allen Poe is a must hear album and the best by APP. You of course know that Alan Parsons was the engineer on the Dark side of the moon album by Pink Floyd. The last song, first part of it, remembers me of the movie 2001 a space odyssey; the scene where the apes discover the monolith.

I would also include Eye in the Sky as the 6th in their run of great albums. I know it's not quite as good as the first 5, but compared to what came next it deserves it's place among the great ones.

In some ways I think the production magnificence worked against Alan and Eric in that this is just as the UK punk scene was starting to take off, and while the Sex Pistols were still a year away the disdain for overblown, concept rock was definitely taking hold. So I'm sure APP had fans in the UK, but over here in the states they lasted a lot longer. Anyways, this has always been my fave APP album by a country mile. If you could only have one, this is it.

When I listened to this back in the 70s, I knew it's good music ... but most of the singers weren't the taste of "young-rocking-Rudi" 😆🤘

Both Pink Floyd and Pink Floyd were recording at Abbey Road Studios (until the Animals album), and Brian Humphries was engineering during The Wall (at least for the original) live shows. Hypnosis was also the artwork creators for both bands during this era. So all these things may have at least a slight influence on the similarities of their recorded sounds then.

Verse 31 is " And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day." There is no Verse 32 -so could he have meant this is the future that Man makes; who knows- EDIT Man didn't arrive until chapter 2 so could this have Robots instead of Man.

There is no verse 32 in chapter 1 of the book of Genesis so I've no idea.

In the Bible, Genesis Chapter 1, has 31 verses. APP - Chapter 32 is for beyond man, written by and for the robots.

Great album. But the review is rendered badly as the quality of your records is nasty. To showcase this record you need a cleaner copy man. They sold a ton of these, so l you can easily find a nicer used copy. My copy iwas bought new back in the day and it sounds good , because I took care of it. This is a rough sounding copy. If your playing anything else doesn't matter so much. But APP . Come on man ! Search out a decent copy and clean the record. Also it's Zakatec , not Katatek! And Woolfson , not Woolfston! Sheesh ! It's written on the album cover in black and white. You need to do a little research on the album you're reviewing man . It's all over the internet. It's hard to imagine this is the first time you've heard this album. This is just one of many great albums by this group.
