In case you missed it, album they did with the BBC Symphony Orchestra was released properly ("This New Noise") and their Bandcamp has several of the albums as instrumentals as well!

A return to form for PSB. Saw them perform this live on their last Uk tour and it was sensational! The album requires several listens to appreciate the complexity as usual. A very underrated band imo. Thanks for featuring this!

12:34 When the music rocks so good that you lose the ability to read for a moment. Great band! I had not heard this album before; I tend to be a bit late to the party, too. Definitely adding it to the shopping list though. Is it the clear vinyl limited edition you have there or is the swirly one a different limited edition? I want the swirl!

Hi Jim, Never heard of them, I think. The record print is ideal for self hypnosis or mindfulness 😵‍💫. A bit like Brian Eno at the start. I still hate talking samples in music; sing or be quiet and let the music speak. Second song. More talking 🙄. The rest is a bit above the average pop song to me. Third song. Sorry Jim, but this music doesn’t give me that tingling feeling across my spine. 🥱 Fourth song. More of the bloody talking. I simply cannot concentrate on the music when I hear talking 🤯. The music is great in between the talking.

But that's the whole point - Public Service Broadcasting. They use old news clips to accompany the music and tell the story.

@ I don’t know them so I don’t know this. My brain can’t cope. If I hear hear talking my brain tries to understand what’s been said and no longer hears the music very well. It’s one or the other.

I tend to like the idea of PSB rather than the execution - I love the thematic concepts and the extensive use of spoken word samples plus the music is never dull but doesn't quite leap that highest quality hurdle for me. 'The Fun of It' for instance could almost be a (good but unexceptional) single by any one of the current female media darlings and other tracks that I've heard are just too mainstream to prick up my ears. They're one of those bands where the more accessible they get, the less I'm interested. My fault, I know.
