Basically these are two studio guys but a lot of the shows are performed live I'm pretty sure. They also have there there own plug-ins like the Pusher. They've been around since 1996 and their older music would be classified as psytrance. Starting with the 4th album "I'm The Supervisor" they changed things up slightly. Then really started to change with "Vicious Delicious" (The album this song was on. Also considered one of their best). To me the 2 best albums by them are Vicious Delicious and Legend Of The Black Shawarma. The older albums have some great Psytrance though and classics such as "Bust A Move" as we as "Dancing With Kadafi" (Another out of this world experience a lot of people would consider is the best) and "Stretched" The albums after are still good but that's when people really started to fall off. Certain albums tried to be more mainstream with elements of dubstep (Thogh their unique take on it) and the latest few albums ever since they signed with Monstercat play a bit too safe and more generic sounding than ever. (Though Shroomez is actually pretty good) Oh, then there's Converting Vegetarians. The one old album that's unique because it came with 2 CDs. One CD was more or less the style they started with but more focused on trance rather than Psytrance. (So not as psychedelic or weird) it's the other CD in that though that truly started the experimentation in genres and styles. From normal songs that end with something you'd hear in a circus, to Euro-pop. Anyways, sorry for the wall of text. But this was just general info for anyone actually interested.

Yo! Always love seeing people experience the journey that is Heavyweight, upon first listen it instantly became my all-time favorite piece of music period, it just hits all the sweet spots for me. Infected Mushroom are two guys, Amit Duvdevani (“Duvdev”) and Erez Eisen. They both are classically trained musicians, and both had various projects before forming IM, mostly in the Goa Trance scene in the mid-to-late 90’s. They’re often hailed as the main face of Psychadelic Trance music, but they’ve also delved into plenty of other genres, such as Alternative Rock, Drum & Bass, Psychadelic Rock, Dubstep, Electro House, Tearout, and much, much more. While Infected Mushroom are mainly a duo in the studio, when performing, they act as a band, with a dedicated drummer and a few different guitarists. Duvdev mostly does vocals at shows but he can tear it up on the guitar and piano, and Erez is simply a wizard on the piano/synth. Considering how much you enjoyed Heavyweight, I’d suggest checking out “Project 100”, “Milosh”, “The Messenger” (both the 1996 and 2012 versions), and “Dancing With Kadafi”. One of the things I like most about this band is that each album tackles a different sound, a different style or idea that is carried throughout. For example, their 2001 album “B.P.Empire” is a journey through dark, industrial, melancholy Goa Trance, ultimately ending with the anthemic “Dancing With Kadafi” (btw, this is just my opinion, but Kadafi feels MUCH better when listened to in context with the album). Their newer stuff is much more Trancey and dance-oriented but they still dip into other areas from time to time. If you’re into the more rock-type stuff, check out “Legend of The Black Shawarma”, “Converting Vegetarians” (specifically the B Side), “Converting Vegetarians II”, and “Vicious Delicious”, the latter being the album Heavyweight appears on. Happy listening!

The truth is that there is no Wah or Wammy but an expression pedal to control a Yamaha rack synth, that’s their signature sound (obviously used in Heavyweight too) which is mostly sawtooth waves and tons of distortion and some similar synth techniques, I’ve seen them live a ton or times and spoken to Erez through the years, he’s such a kind guy, same for Duvdev.

One of the psychedelic Trance Acts I do still listen to after leaving the German Psy- and Goa Scene. So if you are in that stuff you definetely should do a reaction to Raja Ram's "Shpongle". There is a very nice video of a conzert in London where I have been to. Crazy show of the granddad of Goa (meanwhile Raja must be in his late 70s if not early 80s and he's amazing) psychedelic progressive world trance with very skilled musicians playing live instruments, vocalists and dancers,a real circus! For the beginning I would recommend "Around the world in a tea daze".
