The strange sound you heard around the middle of the song actually IS vocals it's just extremely modulated. They use that a lot to create new sounds. Which is one of the things they're legendary for among others.

Some facts for this album, there "shredding" guitars is a synth ( Nord Modular i think) and there was no band really but two crazy masterminds Erez & Duvdev
