Beau-Bassin where I grew up - Brings back beautiful memories! So many changes and some places, not many, still the same e.g The Market, the Police station, the Post-Office, "La Place" where the taxis used to park.... Thanks Riki and Bryan :) Used to go to RCA primary school (l'ecole Rivalland) there which is behind the church and BPS college which is 100 meters or so down Royal Road, passing the church, towards Rose-hill, accessible via a small road on the right hand side of Royal Road. Wow!! :)

That was an awesome video. I enjoyed every bit of it. You can feel that sweet and quiet stillness Ricki described when you move around Balfour./Bord Cascade. BBassin like Rose Hill and Curepipe are the reasons I prefer urban Mauritius over coastal/rural dwellings: these cities are the less boring, embody a genuine representation of Mauritian life and have that cool respite in the early morning and late evenings. These are Historical cities French engineers carefully planned and chose owing to optimal climatic conditions. People used to jog along the promenade which unfortunately made way for the rail tracks That Tang Way is one of the best mart in Mauritius. We used to make the drive all the way from QB to shop there coz they had a unique blend of brands you can't find anywhere else... and that Pao looked so yummy with sweet oyster sauce (not jam). It's obviously prohibited to fly drones around police stations :S but a good spot would be the Plaza RH or in QB at the rear of the market on the parking lot

Thank you for such a great comment. We also love the lively inland areas, the real Mauritius. Thanks for the drone spot Tips, will check it out.

I love these videos where you guys visits these towns and villages especially the ones on the east and south. Not keen on the north side. Too developed. Greed tends to stuff things up. I soak in the atmosphere of these old places and the people. Those big new shopping centres and malls are no different from those in the US, Europe and elsewhere and that is not good. Mauritius is a tax haven and is used by wealthy individuals to avoid paying tax. And I bet all these new shops are tax minimisation schemes Could be good, could be bad. Bad for governments missing out on tax. Good for Mauritians.
@BryanDiscoversWorld2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the great comment. I guess it is how you look at it, the tax minimization schemes do create job, so that at least is good

Beaubassin was the area of the mixed Mauritians. Their soccer team was named Racing club de Maurice After 1968 independence They did not want to live in a Hindu controlled country so there was a massive exodus to Australia.

Rather risky or even reckless to fly(or rather testing your new drone aimlessly) near Police Station and in such crowded area with high buildings around😲also amidst all that hazardous zone with electrical infrastructure above certain height 4 U 2 negotiate😯😱 COUNT yourself lucky 2 have got off lightly by the Police with only some worldly words of wisdom and security advice probably 🤞don't think the natives would have received same fate😥most likely incarcerated by now, confiscation of new drone and definitely Court appearance next day under whatever breach of protocol which Police could have thrown at them😱Lesson 2 B learned indeed👍
