I'm aware that screen writing is different from novel writing in many aspects, but every single writing class will teach you this first: *When writing your story, always revise, keep the plot simple but the characters complex. In other words - Keep it Simple, Stupid.* and some of the best novels and films out there are simple in plot, but complex in character.

I loved most of it. Hated the ending. But I can't stop thinking about it, so I'll end up watching it again. Anyway, really appreciate your point about the discourse around the movie. People are allowed to have their own opinion. Liking it doesn't make you pretentious, I mean, I liked it but I don't pretend to have understood everything about it. And disliking it doesn't make you stupid, because the movie has many flaws. @mania4270 Жыл бұрын
@@kketchie1 ever since movies and politics got mixed in with each other, it's been impossible. But hey I can't blame politics because before that everyone had this 10/10 mindset that if the movie wasn't a masterpiece, it was bad. Many reviewers lost credibility too by putting more of their emotions and their own politics into the reviews. That's why I like Cody or 3c because it's just a guy sharing an opinion on something he just watched. And he's not being over the top, not trying to portray some character, just a guy talking about movies. And then I believe film discussion needs to move away from horror movies and blockbusters. Dramas and comedies are rarely reviewed. I legit had to search KZbin for an American pie review because nobody watches comedy films anymore or they haven't been a part of "nerd" culture. Generally speaking, what takes up most of the discussion now are blockbusters and whether the remakes or resequels are good and I think we are missing many other genre that's not just focused on fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and action. It's like how everyone dissed avatar because it didn't have a strong nerd following like star wars, marvel, or Harry Potter. Most of these discussions kinda felt like gate keeping. This review was good because he's just letting ppl know these movies aren't for him. I think now ppl are so triggered given the state of the world and social media. Everything is so wannabe edgelord now

I want more of the vision play. That story was so well done.

I'm one of those people that advocates for all kinds of movies to get the big screen treatment. I also am someone that thinks a movie that bores you to death or is too weird for you is honestly a waste of time. I used to think that sometimes we should give movies a chance even if we are not connecting with it, but really it's just using up time that could be put elsewhere on something you enjoy. I loved a lot of A24 films. The VVitch and The Lighthouse being some of my favorite films of the decade, but take something like It Comes At Night for example. I almost walked out. I don't like to waste times on movies that I'm bored with anymore, and I turn them off no matter how far in I am when I'm at home.

I was expecting your reaction Cody and the humorous way you expressed it ."Beau is afraid;Cody is miserable" damn funny.I saw the trailer and I thought "Nope;Cody will not like this one and its not going to be my cup of tea either".THEN you said " 3 hours long".Definitely not for me BUT I did see another reviewer who was in raptures about the movie. Both of you got your points across without making people feel small if they did/didnt like the movie,Its why I enjoy your reviews.Balance;humor and respect for others opinions.

Look at the brightside...At least he didn't decide to turn "The Strange Thing About The Johnsons" into a 3 hour film.

I really liked this movie, but I respect and understand your opinion. Anyone that personally insults you just because of the way you feel about a movie can kick fucking rocks

I disagree with you but really appreciate your thoughts, glad your out here making reviews. I am typically a fan of art films and am sorry that you have had such bad experiences with people in the art film circle. It's all subjective and there are certainly different strokes for different folks haha. I am also sorry that you weren't able to enjoy it though, I hope you do give Ari Aster a chance in the future though, as you said his talent is truly top-tier when it comes to story directions. Cheers, and hope you are doing well.

What other people think of a movie or what they think of me because of my thoughts doesnt bother me at all. I will always continue giving my thoughts and I think you should keep going with Ari Aster. Dont worry about what others say or think. You are a good reviewer, just need to ignore the idiots out there. Great review! Even though its three hours long, i will still watch it, because ive liked his other movies.
