They could have fitted most all of season 6 into a slightly extended season 5 without the filler story drama. But instead they had to really drag it out for far too long. Luckily it's still funny, as Johnny is what ultimately makes this show in his own right. And with the comedy sketches, Daniel is there just to annoy him at this point now. They should have kept it more closely knit with Miguel and Johnny relationship, but as they drifted apart in the seasons, so has the show unfortunately. it has been nice to see new characters though, and how they play into it. But not enough depth. Still fun to watch, which is the main point of it. It doesn't have to make sense anymore.

It would be great if people stopped acting like mediocre movies signify the downfall of modern civilization. They’re literally just movies

My Hot Take: Evil Dead Rise is the best in the franchise and Alyssa Sutherland's performance as one of the possessed is one of the best horror acting performances period.

They did the exact same thing with Dawson's Creek. 😆 To me it has become like a comic strip of slapstick and laughs.

I think it would have been better to focus more on Terry Silvers character backstory than Daniels obsession with miyagi. yeah, Daniel has al but been complete consumed by miyagi's ghost. Almost like some kind of possession.

I think another karate kid film is a bad idea, Comes across as just another cash grab. Didn't we already have a remake of the original that wasn't very inspiring, as they just replaced Daniel with a much younger black kid that gets the shit beaten out of him, not palatable. I think Cobra kai was enough of a homage to the original films, now they want to flog as dead horse, after the show ends. I bet it will be another cash grab flop movie... unfortunately.

Glad this one worked for you as a fun time more than me and my friends when we went and saw it this weekend. Out of 133 movies I've seen this year only Fantastic Fest's "Frankie Freako" was worse than this one. Even as someone who has no pretenses about enjoying a shitty action movie with bad cgi (I liked Expend4bles WHAT THE FUCK DO I KNOW) I guess I find them a lot more entertaining if they're at least Rated R action and not a hideous hollow disingenuous movie with our worst actor giving a performance that even by his standards feels stiff lmao

One thing I will give Rob Zombie for his Halloween is the portrayal of Michael Myers because in other movies I’m pretty sure I could survive but this Michael Burt I would not I wouldn’t scary

One of the issues I see with this response to the backlash is it views the conversation in a very one dimensional way. The issue is not merely kids vs no kids. That simplifies the debate in a way that is not necessarily helpful. It's much more than that. I don't have an issue with real evil being depicted in film. But evil ought to be depicted in its proper place. You are supposed to hate the evil being done. But with Terrifier, it is meant to be enjoyed. It's the entire appeal and selling point. Save me the reports about the "in depth" story line they invented last week. The reality is, people go see Terrifier to enjoy, rank, and even laugh at the violence, brutality and depravity. It's not evil for the sake of redemption and justice. It's evil for the sake of evil. Evil is the main character and evil is what you came for. And so, when you have kids being killed, not as a depiction of true evil that must be avenged because "come on! Their kids!" but rather just for the sake of killing kids cause that's what we came for, that's very different. "That's Art. That's what he does. He's funny and brutal. We gotta push the boundaries somehow! It's what we came for, anyway." That's very different. Remember in Narcos, Escobar's thugs killed a baby in a crib off screen. No outrage. Everyone felt sick, and angered about it all the same. But it's evil in its proper place. It's not glorified as a spectacle to be enjoyed, or "comedic" as you put it. It's spoken down to as something unspeakable that must be brought to justice. I know this is not a popular opinion I am taking in the horror community. But I don't care. It's a fact. Horror as a genre continues to lose its soul because it has no justice. The movies don't end. There has to always be an opening for a sequel, so the evil can come back but more evil. The stories have no redemption arch. And so while people will tolerate that for most slasher films because they enjoy the blood and guts for the sake of blood and guts, the tolerance threshold for most folks ends at children. Children deaths in movies that prioritize justice, redemption and vengeance over evil usually do just fine.

The movies you described are essentially the social media reel, tiktok equivalent for cinema. Designed for people to switch their brains off and watch. But sadly that is all that media is now, switch your brain off and watch. Cinema is not designed for you to switch your brain off, it is designed to captivate and ask questions and make us think

I always thought that the grandparents in Get Out were just presented as the help and weren't the actual help. They couldn't outright just introduce them as they are at the beginning. "Here's my young black grandfather."

SPOILER. They should have killed off a character people actually care about, like say Devon, not the Korean "bad boy" who looks right out of central casting for "who's this generation's Chosen but unlike Chosen literally has no argument nor point at all?"

I don't know how they do it, but the actors playing Miguel, Robbie, Hawk and Kwon sure look as real martial artists as an actor possibly can (you totally believe them). Unlike say Sam who looks as fake as Jack Nicholson running down a deer in Wolf...

Stop using teenagers as an example for children deaths in movies because a 17 year old dying in a movie is completely different than a 10 year old dying personally I don't care about children deaths

Great review thank you and yeah people get too serious about these kind of movies. It’s an OTT fantasy action comedy, what do people expect 😂. Also makes me laugh when people say stuff like they are sick of movies like this or superhero movie fatigue etc. NO! There is no superhero movie fatigue, people are not sick of these kind of movies, YOU ARE! Yeah maybe a few thousand don’t like superhero movies anymore or the BIG blockbusters, but little Jimmy and Jane and a new generation of fans have just watched Jungle Cruise or Avengers Endgame and they are in love and want to watch anything they can get their hands on. So the people who have moved on or are ‘tired’ of a certain genre and feel the need they have to tell everyone (don’t ask me why?) and post everywhere this type of movie is ‘dead’, yeah well it might be dead for you, but millions of others either still love them or are just discovering them 😊.

I completely agree with pretty much everything you said.. huge fan of the show and have been invested since the KZbin Red days, but S5 and S6 so far just feels like it jumped the shark, it's like they dumbed everything down.. the first 4 seasons were literally perfect and a writing masterclass, but now I unfortunately just find myself annoyed and rolling my eyes at almost every creative decision.. still love the show and I'm still holding out for a "You're the Best Around" montage lol, but I don't see that happening anymore unfortunately..
