Almost a thing made by human hands is worthy of careful treatment and care. But sometimes the value of your impeccable work is not that you have restored another wooden soul, but that you have created a wonderful tutorial for those who want to do the same. Thank you for your vitdio!

The carving on the top of the chair is charming. You are blessed to be able to make furniture from scratch. What a beautiful set of chairs there will be when you're finished with all of them.

I think this video raises the genuine question of when is a restoration no longer a restoration and is instead a skilled workman building a new chair in the style of an old chair with whatever scraps of the original remain. I don't have an answer.

Rebuilding something with such care and precision shows how much you enjoy the art. Having said that, watching you replace MOST of chair makes me thinks of "Ship of Theseus" paradox. The ship wherein Theseus and the youth of Athens returned from Crete had thirty oars, and was preserved by the Athenians down even to the time of Demetrius Phalereus, for they took away the old planks as they decayed, putting in new and stronger timber in their places, insomuch that this ship became a standing example among the philosophers, for the logical question of things that grow; one side holding that the ship remained the same, and the other contending that it was not the same. - Plutarch, Life of Theseus 23.1

For awful, rusted, stripped head screws, try a cheap tool called a "shake and break". It's an attachment for a pneumatic chisel with screwdriver heads that just vibrates and pushes down on the screw head, but applies no twisting motion, which you provide gently with a handle. It's like $30 and the thing paid for itself the first time i ever used it. Utter miracle of a tool.
