This is a 00 Optimus kerosene stove in production in Sweden since the end of the Great War I have one since 1970. It may have been made as a store brand “RM” but is identical Now made in Estonia. Bullet proof. You can get kits for the all the seals. The chain is handy but some consumer added item. To light use light fluid or denatured alcohol in the cup to vaporize the fuel have the small screw open once the kerosene e vapors ignite give. It a few pumps. Liquid kerosene will not light and if you getting that or “flooding” you did not vaporize the fuel and start over

Really all you need to do is clean these up with elbow grease and brasso. Nice to replace the seals but not usually needed. Good luck

Thanks for the comments, the customer who I did the restoration for, specifically asked not to restore the box.

Steel wool? Scratches the hell out of brass.

Yes, but as you can see it polished up beautifully, steel wool removed all the dirt and tarnishing.

Depends on the steel wool. Take extra fine 000
