Karhu is just one of the many names for a bear in Finnish. The fact that there are more than two hundred different names for the species in our language already tells about the remarkably important position of the bear in the soulscape of Finns of the past.

You said "ylje" and the world is "hylje", seal in English. Very close, but the h sound was missing.

The fact about the role of bear in the Finnish culture, which I mentioned earlier, has become insignificant in modern times and contemporary culture. It's part of almost lost cultural heritage. It's older than the thousand years of Christian invasion, which has diminished the role of older believes. Of course it hasn't been the only factor. People have simply not been so effected by large predators, which has made them disappear from people's daily lives and thinking. I am curious to learn if you have anything to say about your "my people" and their relationships with large predators like lions and the cultural impact in the past. I have the assumption that people everywhere throughout history have been impacted by dangers around them it has effected their culture. Sometimes predators have been seen as "brothers", sometimes as partly spiritual beings something worth respect and even worshipping.

Käytät usein ilmaisua "My people, my people". Onko sinulla sille jokin muu merkitys, kuin mikä löytyy sanakirjasta: Definition (n.) people like me; people from my culture. Tuo määritelmä antaa aiheen jatkokysymykseen: Keitä ovat people like you ja your culture. Onko sinulla jotenkin erityisen tarkkarajainen käsitys omasta kansasta ja kulttuurista, joka lienee yleisesti Afrikassa ja Keniassa heimojen vaikutuksen vuoksi huomattavan merkittävää.

"My people, my people" is a word i love using to address my audience. It is a very common word used in Kenya. It does not necessarily refer to people from my culture. Minulle se tärkoittaa arvoitusta/kunioutusta kaikille minun tilaajalle.

@@Ilona_Ke I am glad to learn that you didn't use it to exclude most people, including me. I have noticed some other KZbinr's to speak about their people meaning the audience of their KZbin channel. I have got the impression that it seems to be more common among those, who have African background. But I don't know if that is actually true. I have suspected that their tribalistic cultural background somehow makes it more natural for them to address their audience as their people or, as some do, as their family.

@@Ilona_Ke Tuo näkökulma " arvostusta/kunnioitusta tilaajillesi", oli minulle hieman uusi näkökulma. Toki olin huomannut kuinka olot muutenkin kiistelly tilaajia.

Sielläkin kuitenkin metsätalous on jättänyt jälkensä metsää. Villiä luontoa on vaikeaa löytää kun ihmiset ovat asutaneet aluetta enenevissä määrin yli 8000 vuotta.
