Helemaal mee eens. De muziek is ook mooi gekozen erbij. Melancholie ten top. Mensen zelf zijn weinig verandert eigenlijk he, in hoe ze eruit zien en zich kleden. 100 jaar is ook niet zoveel. Ze zullen het koud gehad hebben en misschien ook wel honger af en toe, maar ik denk, dat ze ook heel erg veel goeds hadden. Meer dan ze zich zouden beseffen destijds.

In uw reactie stond nu totaal NIETS wat voor een ander beledigend zou kunnen zijn. PS. Ik ben in de 70, dus "net " wat ouder dan u waarschijnlijk. Mijn stamboom is terug te herleiden tot begin 1600. @hij ...................Zoals u kan zien is het woord dat ik gebruikte, maar dat ik van puntjes en spaties heb voorzien, NIET verwijderd. KZbin gebruikt een computer om bepaalde woorden te verwijderen. Ze zijn daar helemaal doorgeslagen. Het woord van het "kamp " waar uw oud-oom "overleden" is, mag u ook niet meer gebruiken. Doe de volgende keer als ik. Gebruik puntjes en spaties. Dan kan iedereen het nog steeds lezen en wordt het niet verwijderd. Het klinkt belachelijk, maar het is een manier om toch uw reactie te kunnen schrijven.

For people saying things were better, cleaner back then.. The canals were open sewers, large parts of the city were heavily decayed, and many people had to struggle to survive. Please Stop saying these delusional melancholic things. You might have become old, sour or had to move out of the city, I'm sorry. Everything is focused on tourism. Like serious everything. Sometimes I want to have a day shopping or eat or drink coffee in Amsterdam, but the overpopulation of people there holds back my pleasure being there. Its not relaxed being there in the summer or in the winter, my opinion. To much people. Those little things wich makes me not like Amsterdam

1:10 the modern look of that font snapped me out of it. Then I remembered that most of what we still consider as 'modern,' and 'futuristic' even, were invented in those years, the 1910s and 1920s. I believe they even invented the very terms 'modern' and 'futuristic.' What have we gotten since that time? Ah dunno, uh... post-modernism? Ik ken mensen om me heen die het niet of wel dragen en beide zijn geen probleem. Een hoofddoek dragen is ook niet verplicht in de Islam. Het is goed als je gewoon behoeft hebt om je zelf wel of niet te bedekken. Wat is daar mis mee? Sommige vrouwen die geeneens moslim zijn houden bijv. ook niet van strakke kleren en niemand die daar raar naar opkijkt? De mensen die onderdrukt worden met hoofddoekjes die wonen waarschijnlijk in hele extreme landen, en extremisme heb je in elk geloof overal wel. Daarvoor hoef je niet te generaliseren. Ik zou eens even rondlopen op straat en vragen aan (jonge) vrouwen met hoofddoekjes of zij zich onderdrukt voelen. En kijk ook gelijk hoe vrij ze leven. Want ik weet niet in wat voor fantasiewereld jij leeft. De enige beperking die moslims in Nederland ondervinden is eigenlijk discriminatie op dit moment. Door mensen zoals jij.

Yes, I know what you mean. All the tech and social distancing (and I don't mean the covid shit) nowadays are not the things life is really about. It is about love, loving, social contact, living together with eachother, needing eachother, knowing eachother, eating honest food no junk, not living in some fake social media tech world thing... And it will get worse... UN 2030. Maybe those people thought they were poor some way, but we are mentally poor nowadays. Even the farmers are beaten out of the country, to make the mass food industry have us feeding all.

@@dussie920 If I may advise you, you don't have to live in this negativity. I'm not saying the things you name aren't bad but you are heavily romanticizing the past. And taking so much of your 21st century privilege for granted. There was a lot more poverty, famine, less good health care, more inequality, plus a glooming world war back then.It's natural to feel some nostalgia watching this but this is such a naive worldview.

Ha ha. I once saw a photo of a group of youngsters digging a ditch (or something) somewhere in America during the late 1800s, and one of the girls was a spitting image of Greta Thunberg. So either Greta looks much like girls did in the past, or else she is really a time traveller! 😄
