Their mom went to their room to have them turn down the radio and found her son's singing in perfect three part harmony. It wasn't the radio. Mom was a backup singer and dad a drummer in the Big Band era. They started performing at ages 9 and 6. Writing their own songs and many for other great artists. They have a much younger brother that had a superstar solo career. Please check him out. Andy Gibb on the Midnight Special singing, I Just Wanna Be Your Everything. In January of 88 they announced Andy would be joining the Bee Gees as a permanent member but sadly he passed away on March 10th just five days after his 30th birthday.

The Bee Gees might be one of the most talented songwriters in music as well. They started doing music very young in England, moved to Australia where they had a few hits, moved back to England and their big break was scoring the soundtrack for the movie Saturday Night Fever that launched the movie career of John Travolta and was basically at the highlight of disco music

If I remember correctly when the US blacklisted disco in the early 80s the BeeGees were targeted first. I was born in 1976 so not the best memory. Barry was 9 and Robin, left, and Maurice (fraternal twins) were 6, in 1958 when they started. They had already been performing for 20 years when this song came out. Check out 'Nights On Broadway',the first song they used their falsettos in, but Barry comes in low and powerful! 'Alone', another sky-high falsetto masterpiece...the Midnight Special TV show live performance is the best, and 'Run To Me' is one of their best harmonies, recorded when they were barely out of their teens! Over 1,000 songs...enjoy!

The Bee Gees started with their music when Barry was 8 and the twins were 5. Their initial performances were, again when they were young children, at auto races where they would play, and people would give them coins. And it grew from there. By the time they were young teens they are well known in Australia, were performing in clubs and on TV shows. They all 3 play several instruments as well. Over their career, they wrote and performed over 1,000 songs. The had a brother who was about 10 years younger. He did perform with the Bee Gees a few times, but he mostly had did his own thing. He became very popular quickly. Sadly, Andy died at the age of 30 from illness caused by a drug addiction.

Their father was a big band leader and drummer. Their mother sang, but gave it up when she got married. Barry was scalded when a toddler and in hospital for many months. After surviving and returning home, his mum said he hardly spoke, but he always had a song for anyone who asked. He seemed to find more to say when the twins began talking. Story has it that their father (who couldn’t pay rent) brought home a tv when Barry was 8 and the twins 5. Neighbors said that Barry quickly “developed square eyes” from watching it so much. He was fascinated with entertainers and entertainment. They said the first time he saw a “song and dance man” on it he pointed at the tv and said that’s what I’m going to do when I grow up. Maurice said they were walking down the street and Barry said he was going to be a pop star when he grew up. The twins asked if they could be pop stars, too, and Barry said yes… and Barry was the big brother so he knew everything. He said they could, and they believed him. Barry said he always knew. They had one purpose in life after that. Shortly after the family moved to Australia to keep Barry out of reform school (landing on his twelfth birthday), they were heard singing by a local dj, were named the BG’s, and started working professionally. Their father quit his job to manage them, and they became the family of 7’s sole support. Their earliest video and first tv appearance is TIME IS PASSING BY from 1960. No one could have worked harder or more passionately to achieve their success. Super inspirational story, and great catalog to get to know. Thanks for reacting to them.

A little background. Barry Gibb (lead singer) On September 1, 2024, he celebrated his 78th birthday, along with his 54th wedding anniversary with his wife Linda. They have 4 sons and one daughter who is the youngest. Also, 7 grandchildren. At the age of 18 months, he pulled a pot of hot tea from off of a table. His mom said he didn't speak for a long time (close to 2 years.) He was close to dying because there was no skin grafting back then and gangrene was beginning to set in. Barry said he has no memory of it happening, just the scars to prove it on his torso and arm. One of his sons was named after Michael Jackson, of which MJ is also his Godfather. Robin (long hair) and Maurice (short hair) were fraternal twins. Maurice Gibb (December 22, 1949 - January 12, 2003) heart attack, while getting surgery for twisted intestines. Survived by his wife and 2 adult children. Robin Gibb (December 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) doctors found out he had the same intestinal problem. They operated, but they found cancer. Andy Gibb ** (March 5, 1958 - March 10, 1988) ** He was too young to sing with his brothers. He had his own successful career. He and Barry could have been identical twins. He had a bad heart. Andy is survived by one daughter. They wrote their own songs and wrote and produced songs for a lot of other artists. Barry didn't always sing in falsetto. They were asked if someone could sing falsetto on the song (Nights on Broadway) Barry volunteered, and the rest is history. Robin sings falsetto too. Nights On Broadway kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6GtaqyDjcyBrLMsi=jPTiDBrXXoMrlXdO In this video, Barry was singing the lead, and Maurice (black pants) sang the falsetto. On the studio album, Barry did the falsetto. On the other songs, Maurice brings the harmony. During a nine-month period, beginning in the Christmas season of 1977, seven songs written by the brothers held the No. 1 position on the US charts for 27 of 37 consecutive weeks: three of their own releases, two for brother Andy Gibb, the Yvonne Elliman single, 'If I Can't Have You' and the song "Grease", performed by Frankie Valli. On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley (Gibb) Evans. (January 12, 1945.) She can sing, but she did not want to be in the limelight. She lives a quiet life. She and Barry are the last two surviving members of the family. Maurice passed away on Lesley's 58th birthday. They were so popular that some radio stations had a 'Bee Gees free' weekend. NO requests for their songs. There's so much to write about them. I recommend the following songs: (I know it's a lot. ) Staying Alive kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5DMq6l3l814rrssi=7p2Pbvfime9eHGc-&t=1 How Deep Is Your Love kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqHUop2LbNpoj8Usi=TJzrh9ns2v1rUvnH Spirits Having Flown kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYild6Oletd3ea8si=3mpRsV0a-kfCMDWX (Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away (Andy Gibb) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHPZpZV9l7Cdj6csi=nxChUw6mLu1xp0CR Bodyguard kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKmYiap_gKimadEsi=ZR3i-vkS0bTbUsMd You Should Be Dancing (Andy is with them in this video: from the movie Saturday Night Fever) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6bSY2x6hcuNaKcsi=XevU5_t8wV8gQCBS&t=1 You Win Again kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYu8aqKPiLidfKssi=tNkXzwYEE2uOUi1I Secret Love kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4fWloKJe7l6d9ksi=5DFjJ0rTH1_6GvEw For Whom the Bells Toll kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIXSqKyPe718i7ssi=kqPuP-VmVOO8dkca One kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4HCkmyOp62Nnacsi=5RF5M5H_P1aXflUQ In December 2023, Sir Barry Gibb was honored in Washington, D.C., alongside four other artists, for their contributions to the music industry.
