We also follow the “If you’re not hungry for dinner, you’re not hungry for desert” rule, and it has done wonders for my toddlers. We also love the “Try one bite of everything on your plate”. They don’t have to eat everything, especially if it’s something they don’t like (steamed carrots, I’m looking at you…) but one bite is the rule. My daughter who was particularly picky often says (when she tries a vegetable she assumed she didn’t like) “Mommy, I like it now!” Just the other week I gave her a 2nd helping of cauliflower! Proud mama 😊

We do that too but I do distinctly remember myself, siblings and cousins claiming that the dessert stomach is a different place to the main meal stomach as children so I can’t help but feel a bit guilty about it haha.

I love this channel, too! I find it inspiring and lovely. It isn't necessary to have a whole passel of children to enjoy these homemaking skills, however. Many people can't manage that, and it's also important to acknowledge that our planet is already vastly overpopulated. Blessings!
@wilmawagler5058 Жыл бұрын
Not having children is not the place to stop “over population .” We were at a neighborhood Christmas party of college educated people. I told my husband something was glaringly missing there are no children. People have up to 8 dogs and treat them like children.

For Thanksgiving this year my mom made the cranberry sauce and used pineapple instead of orange (her orange had gone moldy so she got creative) and then accidentally added ginger instead of clove. It was delicious!! We all loved it, even those who normally don’t like cranberry sauce.

Thank you for sharing your homemaking with others. Your videos have been the most inspirational to my cooking and baking. It showed me that, with practice, the cooking process of homemade, whole foods could become a regular day occurrence without taking up as much mental energy. You have transformed the impressive and highly involved meals into muscle memory simple everyday meals. More about using what needs to be eaten at the time and I love it! Thank you... so much.

It’s refreshing to see that you can provide healthy food without having to cave in to picky eaters. I once ate at a friend’s home and her mother prepared a feast. We sat down, had the blessing, and her six year old complained that there wasn’t mac and cheese. The grandmother got up and went to the kitchen to cook this child a box of mac and cheese. My friend just continued to eat and said nothing.😳 We we’re raised like your kids, and I’m thankful. My Mama cooked from scratch, there were no chicken nuggets three times a day. Now, I’m married to a picky eater and some days I want to scream! Baked acorn squash with sausage and apples…sounds like heaven. Won’t happen in this household. I guess I live vicariously through your lovely kitchen! Those Christmas mugs are adorable! Can I hire your girls to cook and decorate for my church small group party? LOL! What talented teens!! Thank you for your channel! 🎄🥰🙌🏻

We have deserts with Sunday supper, when guests have joined us, and for special occasions, holidays. Otherwise, we do not have them. It makes it easier to have the children expect they must eat their actual meal, which contains most of the nutrients. All the food you made looks delectable. I love to see the kids watching you make something and await it with happy expectation.

Hi Lisa I have left you several comments on my sourdough journey and how miserable I have failed. I am on day two for the 3rd time and I am hoping I have figured it out. I have an electric stove and granite countertops so I have no place in my kitchen to keep my starter warm so I took a chance on placed my heating pad on the kitchen counter on low and placed my jar on top. Lo and behold my starter is finally rising and bubble. I am praying I have it right this time and will be making bread soon. Hopefully if anyone else is having trouble maybe this would help them. You are such a smart cookie I wish I had your talents and I just love watching your daughter in the kitchen with you.

How I remember those days when feeding my kids. When I would serve the main meal, they would eat a bite or two or just move the food around on their plate. Then they would say they were full and then asked for dessert. I would say, since you are to full to finish your supper, then you are to full for dessert.

Have you tried planting (non- stop) Begonias? They make a fantastic display right up to the first frost, then you lift them the same as the Dahlias for the winter. After the frosts are over, place the begonia corms, hollow side down just on top of some soil (you can start this indoors if you have a sunny spot.) once rooted, be ready for a great display of colour, they really are non-stop flowerers. (I think I just made up a word.). I love your videos, even though I’m disabled and mostly in bed, I can bake vicariously with you!

I don’t know any other way to say this, but I really appreciate how you make a mess in your kitchen. I love how you use it how it’s is supposed to be used and don’t mind the mess in the process. I like seeing how you kinda eyeball stuff and aren’t too precious about being perfect with recipes and such. And still, everything you set out to do comes out so well. I admire this about you. I think I need more of just doing in my kitchen. Less of everything being perfect. I made a loaf of banana bread today while my kids were setting the lunch table and then I made stuffed squash for dinner (before I watched this video😂) and it felt so good to just make something my family appreciates in the cracks of life.
