Yeah, the little thin ones flood all the time. I think I'll just go a little bigger on the dimensions to allow for a big groove when I do mine

That is one very beautiful cutting board. Thanks for sharing the info on how you made it.

As a former shop teacher, I think this is absolutely fantastic bordering on incredible but I have two criticisms. First, I'd either use a large chamfer on the back to help pick it up or router a half-circle in the edges so you can use both sides, no rubber buttons, this way it looks better! If they want a no-slip surface, buy a routing pad at Grizzly, cut it in half and you have enough for two boards! I love your technique for flattening the board, not all of us have huge sanders!

Hey Gary. I agree the chamfer works well I have done that before but it’s not a common method I have used. I have attempted routing the ends with a half round but but my router is quite big and cumbersome. I will be ordering a new router soon so I have better options when it comes to certain jobs like juice groves and half circles.

Cheers for the video mate, great inspiration and the board looked awesome. 1 tip I could give would probably be get some scrap pieces the same height as your board in the juice groove jig. I did notice a slight dip on the side of the router while you were routing it out. Other than that. 👌🏻 +1 subscribe

Really like that pattern alomst 3d effect when u pulled to the high shot. Another one if u want another idea is the crazy/obscure board. Total random pattern usually turn quite nice. Good way use up off cuts and scraps. 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Oh and belt sander might be worth the investment

That's really beautiful, thanks for the video. One step I didn't see you take (unless I missed it) was you didn't wet it with water to bring the grain out before final sanding. From what I have seen this is important because the first time it gets wet the grain will react leaving a rough finish. Perhaps the way you sealed it prevents that, not sure.

I did wet it down but didn’t record that part. But yes that is an important step to do. Well spotted

Absolutely beautiful work, could you post the measurements of the timber you cut up to make this, I’d love to try my hand at making this board for myself.

Great looking board! What rpm did you use when flattening with the router sled?
@hazelnutwoodcraft
@hazelnutwoodcraft Жыл бұрын
Rpm? Revs per min. I’m not sure what the rpm is on my router but it was on max setting for that router

Congratulations on the video. Is it possible to know the measurements of the boards you used to create your design?? It's fantastic. Thank you

Absolutely beautiful design and great job. Pardon my ignorance, since I am just beginning at woodworking, but what are the widths and lengths of the wood that you used?

Why did you run each board through the plainer when it would of been a lot easier and more accurate to run the glued up boards through?
@hazelnutwoodcraft
