Hello, welcome back to the channel. I like you to check out this neighbourhood in Cotonou.
You can see the area is well developed. Anyone can actually move here and live a very comfortable urban life at a very low cost.
This area is in a part of Cotonou called Akpakpa. Inside Akpakpa there are several residential neighbourhoods. This particular neighborhood is called Segbeya. It connects to other similar neighbourhoods in the area.
As you can see there are many wealthy people that have homes and live here. But a lot of poor people also find comfort here.
For the middle class, you can find a 2 bedroom apartment here for as low as $150 per month upstairs. $100 will get you a 1 bedroom easily. For a new house with modern finishing 2 bedrooms can go up to $200 or $250 for a 3 bedroom apartment.
This is very low considering that this area can actually pass as an upscale area in some African countries. Water and electricity are reliably provided and cost just about 20% to 30% of your rent. The city centre and the beach is just about 10 minutes drive away.

Relatively clean surroundings compared to for example Accra Ghana. What I find a bit strange are the almost empty streets with regards to the number of people.

Thanks for all these amazing video and info! Are there 2 or 3bedroom bungalows in this neighbourhood.I can't climb stairs because of my painful knees and back. I doubt if there are lifts in this building.I also love gardening and need some ground space?

Great Job!! I saw another of your vids, featuring your family. You mentioned their fluency in French. I’m African-American from New Orleans, Louisiana, and my French is very weak!! But, I will learn more to successfully work/life in Benin, at least part of the year!! What level of French fluency is necessary; anD I’m working on Yoruba language, as well!! Which should I focus on learning more quickly, please 😅??

French will be better. A little bit of French will be good. I would recommend business as the population is growing very fast. However there is demand for expertise in different sectors especially construction.

@@MyAfricaView Thank you/Merci! How about the Communications sector: Cinema, in particular; and marketing (this type of national turn around is an Awesome Identity-building Trademark for the nation’s new era)!! How strong is the African-American tourism there? Other than the Door of No Return,’ how will be the gov’t seek to market cultural=tourism (like the Vodun Culture, as well)??

Why would they plant the trees RIGHT in the center of the sidewalk instead of next to the road? Do they love slalom runs? Literally shaking my head.
