I have been taking advantage of the beautiful Fall weather to get some projects done before winter sets in. These include projects in the garden, and some that will help us and our animals have a cozy winter.
Here are links to some of the products we use regularly that I mentioned in the video:
Gorilla Garden Dump Cart (I use this to haul everything!) amzn.to/3xogjMt
Heated Rabbit Water Bottles amzn.to/3r8Ppal
Heated Chicken Waterer (not the exact one we have, but as close as I could find) amzn.to/3cPfWB9
Welcome to our Plan Bee! After 20 years of successful careers in the Los Angeles area we moved to rural Missouri and are taking steps to become more self-sustaining on our homestead. I break down all the farmy things into small manageable steps so you can start homesteading wherever you are.
We homestead on 2.5 acres in the Missouri Ozarks, and our garden hardiness zone is 6B.
Our weekly videos break down farming and gardening into small manageable steps so you can make the transition towards self sufficiency and food sustainability without being overwhelmed!
I garden in the Missouri Ozarks and am in hardiness zone 6B.

Haha poor Duke. LOL no, we've got to train them not to mess with the chickens, because a dog's natural instinct is to kill chickens. And once they do it once, it's almost impossible to get them to stop. so it's either bye bye doggie or bye bye chickens.

Ive had nothing but grief from those heated water bottles, they fail alot.. hope u have better luck. Last year we tarped the bunny cage & hung a heat lamp from the center and my bottles didnt freeze as bad

This will be our third winter with these bottles and most of them are still working. The heat lamp is something I could consider, though, if they don't work out. Thanks for the tip!

Amanda, I’m also in my 50’s! It is both scary and exiting. I would suggest not taking on too much new at once. :) make sure you have shelter and feeding systems in place before buying animals. Don’t get sucked in by baby faces! They get big so fast. LOL

@@LorellaPlanBeeOrchardandFarm it’s going to be hard to hold back but I know doing up the house will have to come first. We will have to prioritize financially too. We are buying a 200 year old farmhouse that hasn’t been lived in for years, so getting it warm for winter next year will be our first priority.
