There's no way you could call Hunters a punk band- they're rock with some pop ballads added.

Not a punk band. Hunters & Collectors are an Australian rock band formed in 1981. Fronted by founding mainstay, singer-songwriter and guitarist Mark Seymour, they developed a blend of pub rock and art-funk. Have a listen to Throw Your Arms Around Me (which is a love song) and Say Goodbye. Both brilliant songs.

If I remember correctly the song was written about his daughter when she was born

Nope. About a girlfriend who took a job in Japan and she didn’t know why she did it. And neither did he.

Mark said: “ She’s standing at the gate about to depart for Tokyo to pursue dubious employment. She doesn’t want to go, doesn’t know why she’s going, runs off… tears streaming down her face. Hardly joyous. That came later.” Human Frailty is the official website you’ll learn everything you want to know about H&C from there.

Wondered when Hunters and Collectors would get noticed outside of Australia. Better late than never. Live they are true to their recordings. I can not go past "Do You See What I See" live (available on KZbin) and when I saw them at the Red Hot Summer tour earlier this year they had the whole crowd bouncing and the sound was fantastic.

I think Dei said they are a pub band or pub rock and well Americans as we know are not the sharpest knives in the draw so they got that confused with punk band
