My men's chorus is now doing this arrangement. It has just the best bass part in the world.

My friend, Dorla, used to sing this in most of our Auditorium programs at SW Hi Schl in Mpls. Wouldn't be allowed today bu why couldn't our exxcellent Jewish friends contributed one of theirs? I doubt there was any Islam there. Music is music. Songs of Abraham and David or just the reading of a Psalm would have been lovely. They were/are the foundation of much of what we know today. Greetings from Chapala Mexico.

I wanted to sing along. I could not. It is too much for me but my heart is full. Mexico Dec 7, 2021

Applause for human accomplishment in a Christian church is grossly inappropriate. However, this being in a Protestant church, it truly is all about glorifying mammon than of Christ, sadly.

@Joeli Mischke Really? I was in this choir a million years ago as a student at St Olaf College. This was a concert performance, NOT a worship service, therefore it was permissible for the audience to respond giving their appreciation in applause. Clearly your prejudice related to the form of Christianity called Protestant is showing! heal thyself friend!

Although I do not like applause in a church service, for me personally, but often people applaud to say “thank you” to the folks who gave such a beautiful respite from the world. They mean no dishonor. This was such a lovely offering of encouragement and praise. Thank you for posting.

It’s a concert in a church. Applause is not only appropriate, it would be rude not to show appreciation and thanks for the hours and hours of effort put in by this choral group. Love God, love man. Thanking your brothers and sisters in Christ, with a kind and humble heart, would seem to be common courtesy.
