I'm beginning to think Mark's narration is my favorite part of these video clips. He makes being outside on a cold morning sound like you are seeing something very special is taking place. This was another gem.

I'm fortunate to live in an area where snowy owls congregate in the winter. I've gotten some wonderful photos of them this year. They are the only owls I've ever gotten photos of owls I've ever been able to photograph. I'm constantly on the lookout for them. Lots of hawks and eagles around here to keep me busy, and ospreys during the summer months. Loved this video. Thanks for sharing, as always!

@@Zwiesel66 In my opinion the vast majority of the photos that just jump out at me and make me say WOW, are shots made with the 400 or 600mm prime long lenses. The shots I’ve seen on here lately by so many using the 600mm f1.4 have blown me away along with the price. I truly finally believe to put my $$ in glass. Any recommendations, should I get the 400 f2.8 or the 600mm f4

More good shots. I haven't hardly used my A9 with the 200-600 and my A7riv due to the fact my right shoulder hurts so much I was supposed to have it operated on in December but due to a 5 day stay in the Hospital over Christmas my surgery will be this week on February 25th. So with that being said I hope by the end of May to Be able to get out and use my fantastic gear. In the meantime I learn a lot from your work. Today I did notice the Eagles are back at the nest at the I 95 and Matanzas Woods exit it's in a good spot because of the elevation from the bridge. If your in the area exit the North bound exit here in Palm Coast. There is another nest in a preserve just off of Matanzas a little east of the freeway. I'm going to check it out tomorrow and also try a couple shots. I won't post them unless there good.

Glad you came to NEw York Mark that’s really cool! Awesome video .... I shoot at the exact place you went to for the shortys and I agree with you, the snowys are spectacular and a must have image of! but they can be a little “ dull” during the day (especially when they don’t cooperate and show off their beautiful yellow eyes 👀) but you seemed to have done pretty well for yourself👍🏻....& that’s why shortys are great owls 🦉 to shoot because they give us some chance of seeing them in the dusk light, hunting.....!

Amazing photos. The way you can capture these beauties is unparalleled. I don't know how much you had to practice to achieve this level of accuracy in capturing flying birds. I'm a newbie and a hobbyist photographer and whenever I try to take pictures of flying birds, I end up with very blurry photos of them or just photos of plain sky 😅

Brilliant to see 👍 I live in the UK and owls are very sparsely populated. They are a difficult species to locate let alone get a good shot. We were very fortunate to have had a pair of short eared owls turned up 2 miles away a month ago.The UK has a strict lockdown restriction on travel due to the pandemic meaning we can only exercise in the local area at the moment. Local country walks away from people are OK. With camera in hand and after searching / standing for four or more hours we bagged a handful of pictures. Your films are inspiration, keep up the great work.

Great photos Mark but here in Maine that would be considered a warm day. You can recognize a cold day here in Maine when you exhale and your breath immediately freezes and falls to the ground as ice crystals. On days like that we switch from finger less gloves to mittens.Colder yet and we might go so far as to wear a down jacket if we are going to be totally inactive. As for your usual habitat I worked as a land surveyor in Miami in May of 1968 and that is what I consider hostile conditions! Holly mackerel, now I know why so many birds migrate north in the summer!

Favourite part of the video? Start to finish. I’m blessed with Short Eared Owls that come down to the Vancouver area for winter in a near identical landscape to which you photographed them in the US northeast. I’ve gotten my share of shots this winter...though never enough and it’s uncanny how similar some of my compositions are to yours with similar backgrounds. SEOs are one of my favourite species to photograph but oh, how I’d love to have a Snowie or two at the end of my lens...it’s been a while. Great work, Mark. Thanks.

Amazing as always, Mark. I watch sporadically, so I apologize if you've spoken about what I'm going to ask: What do use for noise? You're not afraid to push the ISO into areas you couldn't have a few years ago, especially with a particular leading camera brand that I don't think you use. What is your keepers rate? I mean considering only focus, exposure and such -- not counting sharp photos where the subject blinked or something. I'd like something to aspire to, not that I'll ever be worthy to even lurk in your shadow. And the question you probably were expecting, have been asked, and have answered: Are you planning on trying the Sony a1? Again, you rock! Your photos are second to none, videos are great, and your narration/script are about the best I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.
