Who owns these houses? Is this a rural village?If yes,then why are there no rural activities carried on as in a typical rural village? Yes it's a village. This phenomenon is typical in most rural provinces like Limpopo, KZN and the Eastern Cape. The owners do not unnecessarily stay there all the time and such developments are products of remittances accrued through exploits in the city especially from a province like Gauteng where most people work. We then go back to our villages or townships depending on where you grew up and then build up your old family home to resemble the houses in the city. Some people build these houses for themselves because of the low cost of land purchases and them being outside the municipal demarcated land or being in communal land means no rates and taxes are collected on the property.
