I think more and more people come to realize how great that lifestyle was and still is.. Today we talk about durability, continuity, green and stuff while those humble people have been doing just that through centuries.. They should be the strongest and most powerful inspiration for those young people who just complain about the destruction of the environment, the air etc.. Here is a wonderful example of what to do and how to live close to nature and durably... Since hundreds of years... Think about this. The future is there, in those people's lifestyle..

Who is the guide-translator? I can't find her name in the video info, correct me if I am wrong, but we all should credit the locals. She seems really nice and I wish we had listened to her more. She seems to have interesting info to talk about. I loved the town, the architecture, traditional costume making and the art class was just wonderful. Chinese are a humble and wise society, let's hope they can build the country they want. Thanks for sharing this video with us. The world shouldn't focus only on the negative opinion about China, we should learn from them and build a future together. Preserve our culture's good things and exchange with others. I wish the world becomes a place where we can all coexist.

At 18:43, the right column of words on the Bell are "Dao Guang 14th Year ...." That is the 14th year of the reign of emperior Dao Guang. The first year under Dao Guang is 1821. So the 14th year is the year 1834 A.D. Some of the other words are names. So the bell is likely casted in 1834.

In the West you can use that water-wheel on a small river to pipe system to generate electricity and live off the grid, you can power an entire village like that if you live somewhere rural, I know it's currently taking off in Chile (SA) too. By using paddles like that you don't interfere with the natural biome of the river, harm any life or animals or upset the natural balance, and you massively increase the pressure in the hose when the water comes out the other end so generate a ton more electricity.

The hunchbacked old grandma at 3:23, who was the shortest and most silent and peaceful among all the grandmas on that bridge almost makes me cried. If I were there, I would buy some stuff from her, she was so pitiful, helpless. But you can still see from her eyes how much she wish to make a deal. My heart just broke 😢
