You could find composition in the bottom of a rubbish bin Sir. I could never in a million years find so much inspiration the way you do no matter what the subject you are shooting. A stunning tapestry of wood mist and light. A relaxing Sunday watching 👀 one of your videos takes some beating, and you are not shy about sharing your hints and tips with us all. Thank you Sir.

Great video to wander around with you in the woodland and compositions, thanks for that. I especially like the scenery and photo at 11:43. Later in the video you're shooting the 'arch' with f18. Have you considered using focus-stacking, as you've got a tripod with you? I always thought that appertures like f18 would introduce artifacts in the final image (diffraction).
@JohnMcKennaPhotography
@JohnMcKennaPhotography 3 ай бұрын
Thanks! I do use focus stacking now and then but on this particular day I wanted to try to increase the diffraction which can cause image softening as I was trying to enhance the misty / dreamy feel

Beautiful compositions. Slightly less foggy around here, so I decided against it that morning. I always feel a bit of a pillock mist chasing ... Oh, its mistier over there ... walk over ... not very misty ... oh, its mistier over there ... walk over ... not very misty. Logically I know what's happening but those legs just keep on walking. There's a tree that I can see from the kitchen window, a hundred yards away, if I can still see it it ain't misty enough to bother putting my wellies on. Do you think its going to get cold enough to get crisp autumnal colours or is it just going to be that damp brown mess clinging to the branches ?

@@JohnMcKennaPhotography For what its worth (as I'm only 20 miles north of you) the Sycamores (Acers) are only just turning, the Birches are thinking about it, the Beeches aren't really being effected yet or the Oaks. The most colourful things are the berries, haws and hips, other than that its all pretty green.

@@iainmc9859 thanks Iain. Yeh, im currently standing on the shore of Loch Faskally near Pitlochry and the trees are only just beginning to turn. Might try again in a month or so (depending on when that annoying light show thing ends!)

@iainmc9859 3 ай бұрын
@@JohnMcKennaPhotography Yeah, very roughly I work on the basis that its three weeks from the Sycamores going that the peak time begins. Birch usually goes a week before the Sycamores but are often pretty stripped before the oaks go over; all of which depends on fairly stable weather. If its windy the Birch and Sycamore will be stripped before the Oaks even think of going. Larch might be already going though, which may give some contrast to the other conifers. Any luck with the Northern Lights ? Nature keeps you on your toes. Enjoy 😊
