I’m a straight woman. I realised about women hatred in primary school when nobody wanted to pick girls for teams, and how they treated more “feminine” boys. Long live the flamboyants!!!!! Femininity is right, femininity is correct! Thank u for having that conversation, we are in this together 💗

I have a 3 yr old little boy who sometimes wants his nails painted and wants to wear an Elsa dress occasionally (and we oblige, of course!). He told me yesterday he wants his ears pierced (didn’t oblige that one yet, lol). He also loves trucks and dinosaurs. Sometimes it hurts my heart to think about whether the world will figuratively beat that other side out of him. School can be hard and mean. I so hope he doesn’t lose that curiosity to explore all the sides of himself. So many little boys get punished for wearing a princess dress. I live in a community with dads that brag about berating their sons for playing with Barbie’s. My oldest daughter is dealing with the repercussions of (very) toxic masculinity right now while she’s starting to talk to boys and deal with the fact that the world has told these boys that they’re only manly if they’re playing and lying to every girl they meet. It breaks my heart. As a woman with a girls and a boy- it’s unfair to them ALL.

Are you seriously acting like you actually WANTED to be on the teams to begin with?? You're saying you *didn't* enjoy hanging out on sidelines with the flamboyants, playing with make-up & scrolling through social media?? You femininity wasn't "hated," most other kids knew you wouldn't want to play in a very masculine physical activity anyway and you would've RATHER been hanging out with the 'flamboyants.' Everyone wins. What's the issue??

If a PR trip was advertising a new sunscreen, I'd have it written into the contract that the influencers had to wear the bronzing sunscreen and follow it's instructions, eg apply and wait 20 minutes before going into the sun, reapply every 2-4 hours depending on whether it is waterproof or not. Also, doing Slip, Slop, Slap so they are being sun smart. Kosas would have won brownie points for actually promoting sun awareness and responsibly being in the sun. In Australia, we are taught this from the start of schooling because our sun is brutal on skin.
@Teneal9
@Teneal9 9 ай бұрын
So true, Eleanor! I always have those "Slip, Slop, Slap" jingles running through my head when I put on sunscreen even now haha. In Australia, applying SPF is a necessary public service announcement and should totally be provided to visitors as they touch down here. Might be able to avoid the tourist lobsters then 😅

@@Teneal9 I do ponder what education is given to tourists as they enter Australia. It is a known issue amongst pharmacies in beach tourist areas that their strongly worded recommendations of sunscreen instead of tanning oil will be ignored, followed by customer returning with second or third degree burns seeking relief. The aloe vera and sorbolene sales in these areas are fuelled by stupidity. The sun will kill before our animals will (but still don't mess with our animals 🤣).

@@eleanorchan872 Absolutely! I found the whole ' people hate femininity' convo so interesting. It's the first time I'd thought of it that way. For years I've argued that things should not be classified as masculine or feminine. I'm a straight cis female, but I love cars and many other typically masculine things, but I also work in beauty and look very feminine. Noone should be boxed into masculine or feminine because of the things they enjoy or identify with. A straight cis man should be able to wear make up if he wants to without it being questioned. So I loved hearing your take as I think its another take on the same underlying issue.

For me, the most telling thing about the Kosas sunscreen is that I can't see any retailers stocking it in Australia yet. Australia has some of the highest standards for sunscreen in the world because of how harsh the sun is here and the fact that we have the worlds highest rates of skin cancer. This means that it's a shit sunscreen. Not surprised people got burnt on that trip

As a lifelong Kiss fan, they actually did well with the Glamlite palette. Each member of the band is associated with a different color and so they ran with that in the color story of the palette. The Demon = Red, the Star Child = purple, the Space Man = blue, the Cat Man = green

If you or someone you love is having belly pain, bathroom habits change suddenly, put on 3 or 4 pounds a day, please go to the Emergency Room. Do not allow a doctor to blow you off. Why don't brands have a contest with "influencers" with a million followers do make up on top models, photograph them and give a year long contract to the winner. Only the pictures of the models can be voted on by the judges. No one knows who did the make up. They could do all the models to see a clear winner. I think you two gentlemen would not only have a fair chance, but you would scare the competition to death. Let's even the space .Great marketing all around for the brands , influencers, venues and viewers.

I really took offense at this and tried to get them to stop. It wasn't about it being vulgar so much as it was saying something awful about women. Women are weak, women are less than...Hell No! Purchase or Pass is great, but I'd like to also love to see Keep or Toss. Where you review staple makeup and say "this is great" or "get rid of this, it's been surpassed by everything". You can also do "How do I replace this...". Some products were amazing and were discontinued. I'd love to be able to find a dupe for dead products! Lastly, I'd love a "Dump It" list of products that are either dangerous (asbestos comes to mind), or so bad they should not be in your kit.

Kevin IS gorge today! Those lips! And I just want to reassure you--it's spring. Spring, much as those of us in horrible climates look forward to it, is wretched. Spring brings out the crazy just like the full moon. I'm holding on for dear life until mid May. And your rant on short form content is so spot. on. Everyone wants a social media medal for being outraged about everything. It exhausts me. I'm too old for this bs.

Before purchase or pass section First, sending you both hugs. People suck and you guys didn't deserve the negativity. Second, Johnny you did give me an aha moment when you stated that one doesn't hate gay men, they hate women and overt femininity. I find that when I dress more feminine in pinks, pastels, or other colors the lean feminine that no one takes me seriously at work. My entire work wardrobe was change to more male leaning colors. It all made sense. Especially working in tech in the Bay, the "good ole boy network" is still alive and well.

With all my heart, I can’t thank you enough for acknowledging the ongoing genocides because it deeply matters, while being a beauty content creator who GETS IT and uses their platform to discuss a myriad of really important topics! I can’t find the words to express just how much this means. I adore you both! 💛

Prior to that I didn’t know who Johnny was but a clip of one of your earlier podcasts came up on my fyp a while ago and I wish I could remember which video it was but whatever it was you two were talking about must’ve had me intrigued bc I’ve been watching/following you both eversince! And I even back tracked episodes I missed out on prior to finding you. You have a viewer & fan for life!! Xoxoxoxo to the both of you. One of the very few people I can trust in the online beauty space 🫶

It’s so weird. The times I’ve lied in my life it’s like.. ruined my life.. lol. Like it’s destroyed my sleep, my mental health, etc (and just to be clear.. as a former drug addict, I did my fair share of lying.) I hated it. Lies feel awful and do damage to everyone. But then again I wasn’t making thousands off my lies, maybe money makes the lies less hurtful (being sarcastic)

If any brand wants to test a bronzing SPF they should come to the UK now. We live in the warmer part and we haven’t had a wholly good day since September. The product would have looked fantastic 🥴 Johnny you are right, you were right. People are terrified of women, it’s why it is so difficult to get past a certain point in our careers 🤷🏻‍♀️ and a million other obstacles. I’m sorry that the TikTok people got you wrong. RE brand trips? You keep doing you, though yours is the only channel that I consistently trust to be honest.

I love what Johnny said about femininity. As a woman, it resonates. I’m surprised that anyone would argue that our culture sees women ( and our distinguishing factor is femininity- (hello - FEMALE) as weaker - women were the chattel property of men until early into the 20th century. Her children body, possessions all belonged to a man .. UNDER LAW… I remember in my lifetime, I’m 40, turning on the news, and hearing a debate on whether or not a woman could even be president. After Al our emotional instability would probably destroy the country. 😂You don’t have those kind of debates because you don’t see us as the weaker sex. 😂😂😂

I remember the thing about female presidents and I'm English! We had a female Queen and a Female Priminister but I bet somewhere in the world, in some dark n sticky comedy club there's a man doing the old "Can you imagine a female President on her period with her finger hovering over the nuke button, mascara running down her cheeks and red wine stains on her teeth! No sir, I don't trust nothin that bleeds for a week n don't die!" Now if Johnny had said that?! 😅

And just generally content about MUA stuff like tips, how you guys deal with people trying to take advantage of your service and ask for more than they paid for etc. THANK YOU THANK YOU AGAIN IM UNBELIEVABLY EXCITED

I usually listen to/watch these on Spotify with my daughter, but I had to jump over here to comment! My 13yo daughter has Kevins exact hairstyle and it does that amazing pouf naturally. But she always tries to flatten it down a bit because she thinks her friends will think it (and she) is too much. Seeing how FABULOUS Kevin looks made her proud of her hair and I can't tell you what a relief that is for me as a mom. Obviously a teenager doesn't listen when her mother says she is beautiful, but when she gets to be twinsies with an absolute icon it boosts her like nothing else. So just... Thank you for being you.❤️❤️❤️❤️ XOXO from Finland 😘
