Don’t feel bad, Johnny. I think many of us have tried to wipe Porefessional’s existence from our memories.
@Andytheevien8 ай бұрын
What's so bad about it? I have bought two and liked them. Got alternatives that are cruelty free and vegan?
@tamrasmith17448 ай бұрын
@@Andytheevien Hey, if it works for you, use it. They were talking about the original one, not the variations that have come out since. It’s a silicone primer that is supposed to blur pores. The problem with any silicone primer, is that the people who have large pores usually have oily skin. A silicone primer may look great at first, but as you wear it and your skin gets oilier throughout the day, your makeup will slide right off your face. One of the newer Porefessionals is the Hydrate Primer. It’s not a bad hydrating primer, and is a little less loaded with silicones, but would still be best on normal to dry skin. I received a couple of deluxe samples and tried it on myself and a friend. My skin has changed in the years since the original Porefessional came out and now instead of being oily all over, only my T-zone is oily. I prefer the Glow Recipe Strawberry BHA Pore-Smoothing Blur Drops. It is vegan and cruelty free. I only use it on my T-zone. I prefer just a serum and sunscreen on the rest of my face. The Glow recipe controls my oils and helps my makeup last and has ingredients that help my pores appear smaller over time. It’s not a pore filling primer, but if an area with pores stays matte, the pores are less noticeable and appear blurred. My cheeks can be glowy, but I do not want a glowy nose and chin. I’m sure you can get advice from others if that doesn’t sound good. Always remember, if a product works great for you, ignore the people hating on it. We’re not saying it’s dangerous, I just doesn’t work for us. I don’t always agree with Johnny and Kevin. For that matter, they don’t even always agree with each other.

I'm not sure how old you are, and it doesn't really matter. But I will be 40 next month, and absolutely rock blue, purple, green, and black lipstick all the time, and will until they day I die. If I could get away with it, I would wear orange and yellow as well, but I have an olive undertone so those colors look horrible on me. And more often than not, I usually get more compliments than side eye when wear unique color makeup and lip colors. But I do know I am a bit privileged since I live in Las Vegas when it come to things like this, because we are a very weird and accepting city. But even if I lived in the most conservative part of the country, and all I got was dirty looks for wear bold and bright color makeup, I would still do it because it makes me happy. So I highly encourage you to do the same! It feels really liberating to not give a crap what anyone else thinks. I also constantly dye my hair bright colors, and won't be changing that any time soon either.

In the olden days before influencers, we had to learn about makeup on the streets (and by streets I mean Sephora, MAC and cosmetics counters). I still think fondly back on the people who helped me like the guy at MAC who explained to me that despite being fair, my lips are naturally darker which is why I had been struggling to find a nude lipstick and at my request that absolute sweetheart picked out a bunch of other makeup he thought would look good on me and to this day I still buy those products because that absolute sweetheart of a man understood the assignment.

I’ll add one: I was shopping for an Estee Lauder foundation when I was a teen and some older woman in a white lab coat that came in for Clinique walked up to my area. I did not say anything to this woman. I did not look at this woman. This woman came up to me, reached out, cupped my chin, turned my cheek to the side, and said, “If you’re looking for full coverage foundations to cover acne, Clinique has some great options.” I don’t remember how I responded, I just remember tearing up, immediately putting the bottle of foundation down on the shelf closest to me, and walking out of the store as fast as I could. What a terrible way to try to make a sale. This was at Ulta, but hey it was a long time ago and I’ve never had anything like that happen since, she was a real star.

An idea for a Patreon. A lil backstory: I was in the Ulta in my area recently and I overheard a maybe ? 9-10 year old painfully shy little girl (I know nothing of children but she was little and shy). asking the sales woman what she should buy to get started with makeup. Keep in mind this is Montana, this dad was obviously a rancher and obviously single with a little girl… no idea about any of it. They were very overwhelmed with the high end prices and sheer volume of products. Total glassy eyed faces. He was telling the woman “Yeah, maybe just a few starter products to get her through until she is in college.” I thought ‘Oh Daddy you are in waaaay over your head.’ The sales woman just told the little girl ‘to experiment and HAVE FUN!’ Obviously they didn’t have much money, weren’t there to spend a lot but the woman just brushed them off. I should’ve gone up and given them a list of KZbinrs to watch : You guys, Allie Glines, Nikki LaRose.. as well as a beginner list of products appropriate to her age (imagine a little girl who has to learn all of this herself.. even down to proper cleansing, makeup removal, and skincare). I didn’t approach them because I thought it would come across as inappropriate. I totally should’ve helped them. But… on KZbin there are very few back to basics instructional videos that truly break down makeup and skincare from the beginning. Both of you with all of your years of makeup application and knowledge could really start something special. Perhaps different memberships targeted towards different skill levels? . Just a thought.❤ And you better believe if EVER I see that situation again I’m going to say “Can I help you?”

One of the worst memories I have of working in customer service: A man had come into the store while I was bent over adjusting products on a shelf, and he was just standing behind me staring at my butt. I don't know how long he was there, but I remember being super startled when I turned around. I had to help him find whatever he wanted, and when we got to the register he put both of his disgusting hands around mine to take his change. I will never forget the look in his eyes as he dragged his hands across mine to take his change. I was only 17 at the time, and it was a man in his 40s at least. The things we have to go through working in customer service are truly traumatizing sometimes.

As someone who worked here for 11-12 years, one time I had a client ask for a nude coral matte brown gloss.. and I FOUND IT 3 products later. I am 100% not kidding. Oh and Kevin, I also wore Pool Boy, (I literally threw away my OCC lip liners that I had hidden in my room 3 weeks ago, I had ALL the colors, (I remember my lip tars were thrown out long ago, and they got on my teeth all the time I could cry) but I wore Dahlia, or whatever was "a weird lip" LOL, because makeup to me is fun!! Sometimes I got a couple comments before a makeover "I don't want to look like that" and I said don't worry, we can do natural... *grabs Naked eyeshadow palette*, but most times I'd get compliments about my crazy makeup, rainbow color eyeshadow and blue/purple/whatever lipstick, bleach blonde hair with pink, rainbow hair, etc this was so interesting to hear how parallel our experiences are and about the products!! I'm surprised there was no mention of Nars Turkish Delight (with all the Kim K makeovers during the 2012-2016 era) I was always trying to give them what they asked for, and not my personal preference. I wasn't a fan of "well you're the expert" I'd politely remind them that they would be the ones wearing it, using it, etc. So I would ask "How do you like ____? is it something you see yourself wearing/using?" Because if this wasn't just for an event, (and even then, I wanted them to feel like themselves) I wanted them not to feel like they NEEDED to get it because I thought it was good but because they loved it. I had so many clients come back for multiples of products at a time, over the years, even products they were surprised they liked! Blackberry Fineliner by Marc Jacobs was a big hit, or Exhibit A by Nars on Deeper Complexions was everything!!! (I said, okay, I know this looks bright/different, but I said trust the process) and every client LOVED them. Both are now discontinued, but there are many dupes.

I miss Urbans edginess,. and KVD Beauty had an amazing retractable eyeliner, cake liner, that baby stayed ON. Also, I liked her liquid lip, it didn't crust and crumble like Anastasia on me. But the KVD beauty discontinued, the tattoo eyeliner pencils, I swear they don't even go on my water line, I had to rub them on a paper towel and still, nothing! (check the reviews, same) Reminds me of when I needed a lighter to use those dollar store / hot topic eyeliner as a 13 year old. LOL.

Omg! I needed this upload so bad haha I was thinking this morning that I was sad that I had nothing to watch while doing Sunday chores. Also, happy anniversary Kevin!! 🎉❤ happy to have you on the podcast. Your presence and input have been awesome.

Love listening to you both talk about your experiences at Sephora. I worked retail for 12 years, so know how horrible some customers can be. Was Xmas temp at The Body Shop once, only time I worked with makeup. ❤

As Kevin is naming all the 2015 brands for the game I'm realizing my knowledge of brands has not expanded since then 😂 You guys got me on rare beauty and a few others. So thankful 🙏🏼

I’m in awe of this episode! Relating to everything you said because of having my own version in retail! Having my Monday routine as listening to B&B as I get ready for my day is something I look forward to every Sunday/Monday.

39:43 I work at Ulta and this happened to me today with LIP STAINS!!!, if course she chose the last one I showed her. I've never looked for a makeup remover so fast! My arm was stained!!

You have made me so happy. I had to rewatch parts because you had me laughing so hard. I came close to spraying out my drink on a few of your gems: "Wetzel's Pretzels" "so he's got girth to him" "we're not all whores" "Move over, 'cause you're blocking the blush." etc, etc, etc. Love you guys! ❤

Wow!I know it is a real trip working with the public! So sorry you both were unfairly treated. I worked in retail. I treated everyone the same!

I'm the kind of Sephora shopper that doesnt want help, just give me makeup remover, tissues, and test applicators and let me swatch to my heart's content. I spent a good hour comparing the Sephora Lip Creams against my current nude lippies and had a ball! I actually got genuine sweet vibes from the gal who was working that part of the store because I cleaned up after myself and didnt cause any problems, and it was a BUSY sale day. ❤

I have 4 special needs teenagers and I swear, they loved to embarrass me when they were little! My daughter stood up in a subway, rips one, and hollers, it wasn't me it was the one armed man! Then, my youngest yells my mom has an over the shoulder boulder holder and it's bigger than my head! How I didn't become an alcoholic, I'll never know!😂
