I worked at a mom and Pop Italian catering company for over a decade. The owners mom who is now 92 made all the sauces. She put a pinch of nutmeg in her Alfredo sauce. It sounds insane but it was amazing !

haha I was thinking the same thing. I had that once at an Italian restaurant and I've done it ever since. Nutmeg is also really good in homemade mashed potatoes, just a little pinch. Everyone knows something is in there but they don't know what it is and I ain't gonna tell em.
