Another facet of the war effort , previously unknown to me personally , and no doubt lots of others . These three ladies , along with many others like them , all played their parts in keeping the wheels of industry turning , during the dark days of the war . I hope their children and grandchildren were indeed proud of their combined efforts , to bring about victory in the end .

Those are barges, because they're carrying cargo. And narrowboats are generally welded, not rivetted.
