The mausoleum u passed at for A. P. Argenti. His name is Pandeli Ambrose Argenti n he was only 31-32 years old at the time of his passing. He died on a holiday the USA celebrates honoring our independance, 4 Jul 1885. So young he was. The grave stone with the ship on it belonging to Pandelis, Ariadne Pandelis, its the grave of a woman 70-71 yo. She is the wife of Basil Pandelis. I wonder where he is buried? Seems back in the day a husband n wife were buried together. Ur video was great. It's nice to see places we in the US won't ever get to visit. Have been to this cemetery several times in the past few years. The city has not done anything to restore this cemetery. The roots from the trees have caused the coffens to surface and rise. The headstones have crumbled and so much vandalizing. The city does not care about the cemetery. They say that it's to costly to repair. They say that it be cheaper to bulldoze everything.

My great parents, and my cremated grandmother on top, r buried in East Grinstead, at a cemetery called Mount Noddie. I went to visit in May as I had the rare chance while taking my niece to a diving competition (I live in Southampton so when asked to drive to Tunbridge Wells, I had to make a road trip! Lol!) Well, I knew the ground had subsided, that burials were banned in most of the plots now, and it was wild as even walking with a hand strimmer is dangerous, and bodies had been seen thru broken graves, but nothing prepared me for the guy seemingly looking at me thru the huge gash in the side of his tomb! I told the groundsman after sending my daughter and niece to the car where my sil was waiting (didn't show them that's for sure!) And he said yeah, we get a lot of that here but it's so old we can't do anymore than patch and kids had removed the boards so was waiting for permission to seal or replace the stone. Luckily as I'm here, I am OK with it, but I told my dad (his mum and grandparents) and he had stories from 30yrs ago when my nan went in! Glad to see this place is getting some tlc tho, old churches and grave yards r so beautiful, but most people don't take the time to look.

Internments are so different around the world. I’m from Chicago Illinois and the mausoleums look much like these but one difference I notice from the UK is the inside of the mausoleums look more like basement storage. In the US the mausoleums have all of the coffins in closed in the wall and the insides are usually all marble and kept reasonably clean because the doors have glass and metal decoration. I don’t understand why the coffins are kept exposed. Do family come and open them from time to time?
@jeffreyyoung4104 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! You make good videos! I so wish you would look up and down and even left and right a bit more, as the architecture is more interesting to me than the coffins, unless, like the one Mausoleum, it had the original lace covers on the coffins, and the altar was very interesting! We can stop and look closer if you just scan a bit more! The leather covers on the coffins are better protection than lace, but not as decorative. The leather covers seem to be popular! Some of the Mausoleums and even many of the monuments look contemporary to the Mausoleums and monuments of today! The huge mausoleum that you tried to open the door on, you needed to turn the door knob, not the ring!
