You're supposed to hate Gaston, he's the antagonist! Luke Evans was too likable as Gaston & he didn't use a dagger. I like the idea of him fighting off The Beast Prince with a gun. That gave us a great scene. The fight scene could've been better, though. Gaston was a hunter as well as a soldier: he was experienced with an array of weaponery. Not just a gun.

Gaston is a bad guy but Luke was good at playing him. I didn't recognize him in the Hobbit movies but if I watch them again then I think I will. He's not buff like the cartoon Gaston. Gaston still wants to marry Belle even after he keeps being told Belle will never marry him. Gaston thinks he's the best at everything & is stuck up & self conceded. He does look like he has vampire teeth.

Gaston may have been a Soldier / Veteran, but he was a Hunter & had access to more than just a gun! Gaston had a Gun, a Bow & Arrow set, a Quiver full of Arrows & A Dagger! WHAT HAPPENED TO GASTON'S DAGGER!!! Seriousely I am not a fan of that adaptation change. I don't mind the idea of Gaston fighting The Beast with a gun, shooting at him... but he used his Dagger on him at the end to get Close-and-Personal when it came to the killing blow. The whole point of that was that Gaston was hunting The Beast down like the animal that he saw him as. I miss the dagger scene.
