A Hemingway fiesta as I hoped! Ooh, I'm so intrigued, I just added Shane to my wishlist--I've been looking for westerns so that's great. 'The old man and the sea' has the best inter-generational relationship, I agree.

Thanks Emily. Great Tag that you and Ruben came up with. Fantastic prompts for people to dig deep and respond too. What I like about Hemingway is that the writing and story gets inside you and you are carrying that built up feeling and then all of a sudden, bamn, he hits you with a line. Best wishes!

You have done a wonderful job with this tag, Nigel. I really enjoyed your responses, and especially your reflections on Hemingway. Thank you, too, for tagging me. I will do this one soon. Not everyone is turned off from Hemingway by reading it in school. I read The Sun Also Rises for the first time with a wonderful teacher when I was 15, in the tenth grade. In that English class, I fell in love with the book--with it and also with Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby--and it was the beginning of my understanding of myself as a serious reader who would spend the rest of her life reading, studying, and teaching literature. It's one of several books that I read in school that made me want to major in English in college and to become a teacher. I think A Farewell to Arms is my favorite Hemingway novel, but The Sun Also Rises would easily be my second favorite. When I was a very young teacher, I was even given the opportunity to teach a Hemingway seminar to 11th-12th grade students. I promise you, these kids elected to study Hemingway with me, and I do not believe any were turned off from reading him. Hope you are doing well and having a good weekend. Thanks again for the tag.

Thanks for the long reply and the personal share Pat. Not much more rewarding than teaching. It is great if when we are older we have memories of great and inspiring teachers. Not long before you are in the Emerald Isle!

@@ReadingIDEAS.-uz9xk I know you were a teacher too. I just felt compelled to share that I was inspired by great teachers to read incredible literature, and I like to think that I aspired to be that kind of teacher too….I'm very excited about the upcoming trip. Just about a week and a half now! Truly a dream coming true. Stay well, my friend.
