An adult retelling would be 'The Beasts Garden' by Kate Forsyth. It's set in Germany during WWII. I read her book 'Bitter Greens' a Repunzel retelling a few years ago and also 'The Wilde Girl' who married one of the Grimm brothers. Her books are fantastic.

Super Space Chick it's a very dark retelling. One of the women in the book is based on fact. I loved it, I'd love to reread it.

My favourite book ever is kind of a Beauty and the Beast retelling, it's not strictly based on that fairy tale, but based on a similar Nordic (??) folk tale where the girl must live in the castle with the prince who is under a spell to look like an animal, and she then goes to rescue him when it doesn't work out as planned. It's called North Child, or East (depending on local release) and it's by Edith Pattou

Volare38152 that’s my favorite, too! It’s so underrated in my opinion.

I never thought of "Sunshine" as a Beauty&Beast retelling. I mean, he's a vampire, not a beast. And she's not particularly bookish or anything, and she doesn't have a father that is held prisoner by the beast. Hhhmmm.... stretching it to say it's a retelling, but I guess if anything with a beastly guy under a curse and a lovely innocent girl is fair game, then okay!

Heart's Blood is actually aimed at adults I believe but it is a great book! 4 that I highly recommend are A Subtle Beauty by Ann Hunter, Beauty by Robin McKinley (my favorite retelling ever!) and Rose Daughter also by Robin McKinley which is nearly like a mirror image of Beauty which is what is so cool about it, and lastly Beastly by Alex Flinn which is also a cute film. One that I haven't read yet but have heard good things about is Fire Rose by Mercedes Lackey but I think that definitely isn't YA. Great video 😀

Hey thank you so much for the video I love beauty and the beast story and would love to read its retellings. You can try : 1. Beauty and the Beast and the Enchantress. By - Finley Aaron. Its the story from the witches point of view. Here she is telling how she is not the villain of the story but a victim. Why she did what she has to do. Hope you like it.

I read Cruel Beauty and rated it like 3/5 stars for various reasons. It was okay but not my favorite book but I want to try more from that author to see how I feel about her other books. I'm excited for Hunted because it sounds so good.

Zaylee Bones Rosamund Hodge's second book Crimson Bound is even better than Cruel Beauty! I'd recommend it. The world building is excellent, and I love the incorporation of several fairy tales, including Little Red Riding Hood, The Juniper Tree, and Hansel and Gretel.

T.E. Elliott has a Beauty and the Beast retelling it's a Christian historical trilogy but so far I've only been able to find the first two books I don't know if that would interest you and then there's beauty's Rose part of the Fairy-tale Inheritance Series by Shonns Slayton there the only two I can think of

Eeee! Beauty and the Beast is my favorite thing... I don't know how I haven't heard of some of these! There's an ebook by Nicole Ciacchella called The Eye of the Beholder that is a wonderful retelling. Have you seen the covers for the Beauty and the Beast manga coming out?! I'm so mad they got pushed out to July. 😓 Also, the live action movie is incredible. 😍 Also also, do you by any chance know what polish you're wearing in this video? It's such a beautiful color! (In addition to being a Disney Junkie and bookworm I'm also makeup and nail polish addict) 😂

Thank you so much for these recommendations! I have been searching for these for a while. "Old As Time" by Lis Braswell is also one. I haven't read it yet, but I have it. Its take the story and goes 'what if the enchantress who cursed the beast was Belle's mother?' it sounds interesting, but I don't know for sure yet. Also, Jen Campbell did a video talking about Beauty in the Beast which found fascinating. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJK4g5hjaNOle6M and the copy of the story she recommends as the most accurate to the original story is this one, tinyurl.com/z7jqjhd which I am also hoping to read soon.

"Beauty" by Robin McKinley is a great B&B retelling! I have heard (but haven't read) of "Before Beauty" by Brittany Fichter and "Enchant" by Demelza Carlton.
