Also, Scots tend not to wear anything under their kilts. The wind is definitely blowing high, low and all over the shop

One I think probably most Scots know is "Bonnie Dundee", There's another one that's really good about a Scotsman who's had too much to drink, and a blue silk ribbon, but maybe the Google algorithm wouldn't let you do that one. . . .

Yeah, the whole song is a joke about what a Scotsman wears under his kilt. the blowing wing verse gives it away. Its a funny song. The Elvis part comes because at on time Elvis was big in the UK. 50's and early 60's. Many British musicians learned about Blues music from hearing Elvis. Evils was big into the blues for those that don't know and covered many blues songs. I recommend everyone check out the rest of Andy Stewart music its good music. Some are covers; as he covers Mull Of Kintyre, which is a song by Paul McCartney when he was with the 70's band wings. He want to write a song about were he lived in Scotland. I did download 2 Andy Stewart Compilation off of Amazon Donald Where's Your Trousers - The Andy Stewart Collection and Scottish Songs. Some pretty good music worth the time to listen too. I found some good music from watching this video :D

OOOOHHHHHHHHH You cannae shove yer granny off a bus Oh you cannae shove yer granny off a bus Oh you cannae shove yer granny, cause she's yer mammy's mammy Oh you cannae shove yer granny off a bus! You can shove yer other granny off a bus You can shove yer other granny off a bus You can shove yer other granny, cause she's yer daddy's mammy You can shove yer other granny off a bus! That's the first song that comes to mind, I used to sing that all the time as a kid. I've always kinda wondered, why are you allowed shove the other granny? What's the thinking behind this song? 😂

I've already commented but this morning the song The Parting Glass was on my mind when I woke up. In 2016 we, we being my family, lost the matriarch of our family, my grandmother whose family is from Scotland. Historically I've been told we come from one of the communities settled in the Firth of Forth shorelines - whether north or south I'm not sure. We had The Parting Glass sung by the High Kings played on stereo at my Nan's funeral. I miss her immensely. I've since personally adopted it as our family song when someone passes on.I like the Ed Sheeran version best though to be honest, even if he is English lol. Hope ya don't mind, had to share my waking thoughts this morning

Ha ha ha, yeah, I love this song!!!! Enter the Haggis made a version of it, and I JAM OUT to that tune when I'm in my car. Their version is a bit different from Andy Stewart's version, though. Here are the lyrics: Well I just came down from the Isle of Skye I'm no very big and I'm awful shy The lassies shout as I go by Donald where's yer troosers? Let the wind blow high let the wind blow low Through the streets in my kilt I go All the lassies shout hello! Donald where's yer troosers? A lassie took me to a ball and it was slippery in the hall I was afraid that I might fall 'cause I wizny wearin' troosers To wear the kilt is my delight I'm never wrong 'cause I'm always right the Highlanders would get a fright if they saw me wearing troosers When I was driving in my car I went downtown to Kenny's bar fifteen scotches, five cigars and left without my troosers. A good tune, this is!!!!

According to Hugill, in _Shanties of the Seven Seas,_ p. 109, the tune "is from a traditional Irish dance, as well as a march tune." He doesn't say what those tunes are. He also says that it was used on the ships of the East India Company (which was abolished in the 1850s), so it is quite old. I don't think it makes sense to attribute many, if any, shanties and sea songs to a specific nationality. Crews were quite mixed. Many such songs show definite African influences.
