Benefit are such a rip off. Ridiculously small amount of product with easy to rip cardboard packaging?? no thanks. Appreciate you guys taking one for the team. Edit: it's $51 in Australia, so even if it has 4g instead of 3g, that's still about $13 PER GRAM. Are you kidding me? They're not even cruelty free either, so the price is inexcusable. The I Heart Revolution baked highlighters are 10g for $9 AUD and the Goddess Of Love shade is close to the dandelion twinkle. They're also cruelty free.

They're 20 something in the US. It's probably the taxes from shipping making it so expensive. The minis are 10 and usually on sale, 5 for $5 each

@@steph8703 Yes they are not very expensive in Canada either, still more expensive than drugstore but we can often find them on sale or with extra points. I still love benefit products, and for me personally, I don't mind highlighters with a smaller size because they are much more difficult to go through than blush and bronzer. But I can understand how frustrating it must be to have products more expensive overseas when you know the product is not worth that price, but simply because of import tax.

I just sent them a video because this intrigued me - in my Cheek A Boom palette the Hoola, Hoola Lite, and Dandelion are all in metal pans. The Galifornia and the Rockateur are both in plastic pans with the mesh in the bottom. If you bend the plastic portion just right you can actually pop the mesh and product out entirely from the plastic pan.

tbt to when benefit changed the packaging on their boxed powders, kept the price the same, but gave a significantly less amount of product. I remember KZbinrs were so mad and then it just kinda... blew over lol. Anyone else remember this? I feel like not many people do. I still have my hoola with the old packaging (you could completely remove the top instead of it flipping open, and it had no mirror)

An interesting choice to make a line that is coherent only in packaging. But I do like it. It makes it feel maybe more curated when it isn't just the same formula in different shades, but a collection of good individual products that have been created seperately.

I have the Cheek Parade palette from the fall (I think?) and absolutely noticed that Galifornia and Rockateur are in plastic pans. You can see the edge of the plastic clearly sticking above the cardboard. Dandelion, Hoola, and Hoola light are in metal pans. I have the mini of Dandelion and the full size Hoola light, and full size Rockateur and they are all the same formula as the palette based on use of all of them. I was actually examining them this past weekend to decide what to include in my next project pan (I hit pan on this Dandelion mini a few weeks ago) so my memory of these is fresh. I actually got really excited when you mentioned during Beauty News that this was the next video because I had noticed the different types of pans this past weekend and thought “HUH? Why they HECK are two of them plastic??” The formula of Rockateur is definitely more like Galifornia (both plastic pans) than Dandelion or Dallas so that makes sense to me. Good on Benefit for changing up the pan type and formulas to best suit the specific product they want to create! I appreciate them doing this a lot more than just taking the Dandelion formula and making it hot pink. If it performs better in the Galifornia formula, I’m all for them doing what works best for that product, but keeping them a cohesive range in package.

something about benefit packaging is really tacky to me, the prints look cheap and I hate how tattered the boxes get especially if they're being tossed around in your makeup, I honestly don't buy a lot of benefit because of it.

They’re liquid foundations are much too yellow. When I was a rep for the company I had trouble selling their liquid foundations to people. They also don’t cater to very dark skin tones or cool tones. Smh However I really enjoyed waxing at the brow bar. :)

Yes please please do a part two with their boxed palettes! I have the cheekathon one from a year or two ago with hoola, dandilion, Dallas, rockateur, and coralista. I also have separate single boxes of their powders and I’ve never found a difference in quality between the singles and box palettes. I've heard that their mini versions are not the same as regular size, especially the blushes. Like the colors are totally different as well. Same goes for the palettes. I have the cheekathon palette and I swear it's dfferent than the singles(which i do understand a formula may have to change to package it diffrently, I get that), but even the colors even seem a bit off. Wish I could remember who i saw swatch them side by side, but I recall thinking 'woah,those are 2 totally different shades!'

I have one of the blush palettes which has Galifornia in it. It's definitely in the same plastic pan as you can see it around the edges. Last year I've got a palette (cheek parade) ,it includes galifornia but doesn't feel as you describe,it just feels like a normal powder, and it even has very poor pigmentation so, as you said, I'm very curious to see if it is any difference between box and palette blushes. Can confirm that the older Hoola bronzer pans are glued into the box (vs. snap-in magnetic). Coincidentally, I just depotted mine last weekend because those small, deep boxes drive me mad! It’s difficult to swirl a decent sized brush in there. Why, Benefit, why??

Is that Pink plastic pan blush described as a "gelee" formula? They were a fad a couple years ago in high end makeup. There's a Marc Jacobs bronzer that has that texture. Never compared the two, though. Great job looking into this, Kat and Hailey! 😃

They are cheeeeky cheeky. It's been a while since the "Spanish community" has noticed some changes between their full sizes, travel ones AND also the mini sizes in kits... Not even the same colour, not even the same ingredients or formula.. it totally changes your "experience" with their products... As far as I remember it happens with Galifornia and Rockateur... I'm still wondering why it looks like it's a big taboo, everybody knows but nobody has the guts to talk about... and why our american pals act as if they don't care... Probably they don't, but we can't deny that they are the big voice here and actually the ones that might make a difference. All the Spanish community could do was make them replace the "bad" ones and give us full size (which actually is a pretty amazing win for us).

I think mine is way more orange, and your galifornia looks much more pink. The shades also vary from the travel size hoola to the full size one. Most of them have travel size options which happen to be a totally different shade. Also the shades in the palettes with their blushes and hoola vary by color as well and are not consistent. I used to work for Benefit and when I brought this up to a higher up I was told "Let's not tell our clients that".

Benefit are awful for the differences in formula in their mini and sample products. I've tried 6/7 Benefit samples and minis that have been absolutely awful in comparison to the full size especially the eyebrow products. Doesn't make you wanna buy anything at all. Super interesting video though!

Sophie strange, for me I would say the eyebrow products are the most consistent between mini and full size

I used to LOVE benefit it’s the first foundation I ever got so it had a special place in my heart, but then I got tanner from being outdoors more, so I got a new one and i was the 4th darkest shade. Got even tanner then got the 2nd darkest shade. Now my color is not available, I’m really disappointed in this brand for having such a limited range.

Add on the galafonia re-seals it's self iv had my about 4 months now so I'm way down in the pan and using my blushes brush after I use it it seals back up with a layer so strange
