'Beaver Moon' brings king tides to Oregon coast

We have king tides nearly every full moon. The waves this morning in Depoe Bay were amazing. This is my favorite time of year, the storm surge waves make for some "fantasia" like spouts from the Horn.

It's called the Beaver Moon because beavers are nocturnal and during the Great American Beaver Pogrom it was the "best" time to kill the most beavers in one night because the light was good and nobody had flashlights.
