@@yobrethren Randoms blocks only spawn if you destroy demon altar, it's possible to have 0% very easily in vanilla word and modded world with good preperation before entering the hardmode ;) (you can open crate or go in an another world to have the hardmode ore). The only thing that you won't have is naturally spawned pirate invasion, you'll have to manually spawn them

Considering completely pure world = world without evil blocks, it's impossible, because once you purify the said block, random one in the world converts to evil by the game. Though, yes, you obviously can purify the world, it's just that you'll have to contain a batch of it somewhere, with at least 5 blocks that don't transfer evil in between healthy biomes, or on a floating island Once again, completely purifying the world is another chore, you'd have to dig so much hellevators to properly purify every block in the whole world Sorry for writing an essay about a video game, at last i bow out

whenever digging a hellavator, i always just go directly throught the water instead of redirecting it, and making are pockets every so often. The huge amout of water would allow me to easily get through lava. I would much rather falling straight down to hell as opposed having to move around mid fall

I'd love to see a full content world. Spawn in the ocean biome on one side of the map, then progressively harder biomes as you move to the other side.

So only reason I could think of actually using one of these worlds would be using it as a build/farming world. Assuming you can open these in 1.4, I could see someone building just massive amounts of farms. Whenever I’m playing vanilla I feel like I have to play on a large world because if I want to build arenas they take up almost the entire surface (looking at you EoL). Having a giant world would let you build those arenas while also keeping areas for nice builds.

I play pretty much exclusively with custom size worlds (There's a few mods that add this option, and DON'T do what XL worlds do to biome sizes) The main reason? I play 64-bit with 250+ mods. You run into so many world gen issues when using this many mods it's ridiculous, and doubling your world size over even a large world is insanely useful. Also, if you're into building: World Extender. So, World extender is a mod that simply extends the size of the world without generating normal terrain, it's just straight dirt. It's absolutely great for making fun builds, and especially crazy afk farms, without actually affecting your normal world gen. Also, when playing with 250+ mods, you get a LOT more stuff you need to do. Calamity alone has probably a dozen custom arenas you need to build for specific bosses, including stuff like S.Cal's "literally a giant empty rectangle" arena that's hard required. And you easily end up with 100+ extra arenas, biomes, areas, etc. that you need, as well as an absolutely insane amount of NPCs you need houses for (...even using something like LuiAFK's house builder, you can end up with a house chain that goes halfway across a large world lol) People that only play vanilla or lightly modded have no clue what a true mega modded playthrough ends up looking like endgame, and gigantic worlds end up pretty much required (or multiple worlds - Something I'll sometimes do as well, especially for managing mods that have consistent terrain gen overlap issues.) Vanilla 1.4 has very little reason to need an XL world, but true modded has MANY.

A little bit ago I started an XL world with Overhaul. The special part of this world was that I wasn't allowed to use any teleportation at all, in hardcore, with no npc houses allowed. I just recently beat the Brain of Cthulu, and was in the process of preparing for Skeletron before I got bored and did something else.

I just finished a Death Mode Calamity playthrough on an XL world. Let me just say, the second I got teleporters I immediately started using them because it takes FOREVER to get anywhere on the map. It was quite fun though, with having so much space to mess around in.

it makes sense that theres roughly 4x the chests and marble/granite biomes, while the world is 2x larger on the x and z axis', combined theres a total of 4x the amount of space. i think its the square cube law?

as someone whos only played with with larger friend groups from any where from 3-9 people, I would love to play with this world size! Were always having to go to other worlds for more sky islands/jungle chests for every play through and to some extent it always felt cheaty, while im not sure if a single XL world would accommodate everyone still on a larger playthrough, this would GREATLY diminish that need, and that sounds wonderful. I wish this would be something added into the base game.

It's actually easy though, with dangersense potion, they could be even farmed too What's painful is the issue of corruption/crimson spreading on a extra-large map, especially in hardmode, and even worse when it hits the jungle. Trying to cleanse it will mentally drain you, either you'll persist, or just giving up in the end and let it consume the whole world, which it'll make recovery much harder

Well it is easy to understand why there are more than double the chests, since width/height doubled, the area squared, therefore there is much more space than double for chests to be in. Though i'd expect quite many more chests to be spawned in than those.

2:50 its the same case with small vs medium and medium vs large world sizes, depth is affected maybe 66% as much as width.

The big thing is when is 1,4 tmodloader going to come out? This way I can use the amazing research function that is able to act as infinite storage and be able to allow control of bag space better as I can just get rid of items I don't want immediately but can benefit from accessing them later. I hope the tedit people can allow more chests in a world, though I would like it if terraria gets a fishing overhaul this way I can get important items more easily that way. Also it is more likely to have access to more of the items in the game especially chest items.
