There was originally going to be more exclusive biomes. There was going to be a "Candy" biome to replace the hollow. A "Hell" biome would replace the Underworld. A biome called "Swamp" would replace the jungle.

The Graveyard is only requirement when you're in hardmode. Otherwise just a Blood Moon in early game to get opposite evil seeds. But I prefer the Drunk world seed so I dont miss out on anything.

For people that doesn't know yet. You can buy the other world evils seeds from the dryad while she is in a graveyard biome in hardmode. With a little work creating artificial biomes you can easily get almost all loot in a single world.

People always talk about the evil biomes’ color pallets but I never hear about how they expand in Hardmode. The corruption’s cursed flames turns its relatively monochrome color scheme to a purple and lime, which works well for its overall diseased, infected theme, while the crimson’s ichor expands upon its red, gory theme with a fitting yellow

I think I prefer the Crimson, but having to deal with spiders (arachniphobia lol) and losing access to Wrath potions is a hard sell, even in exchange for Ichor. Still, you can always just hop to a disposable secondary world with the other evil biome no matter which one your main world has.

Ya know, it's weird. Purple is my favorite color, I love eldritch creatures, and adore the theming of the corruption, but I vastly prefer the crimson. Something about its environment just feels better and scratches some sort of itch, same reason I love the Plague Flight from Flight Rising and the whole idea behind the Mystery Flesh Pit. Something about a fleshy landscape and venturing into the maw of the beast to face the source of the heinous creature infecting and spreading across the land is just so satisfying to me

The crimson creates these cool caves with body like caverns that feel like they’re breathing. The enemies are scary, bloody and truly evil. The corruption creates these gigantic nasty pits that ruin the world & sometimes cross horizontally and the enemies are just various sizes and lengths of eye covered bugs. Hell, when I first discovered the crimson I didn’t even realize it was an alternate version of the corruption. I just thought it was a cool biome, in fact it was my favorite one.

Crimson is so much better. I appreciate it's lore so much as this living, infesting thing that just wants to assimilate your world as it has done to so many others. Also the music is so good, it basically sounds like the biome is "waking up" to your presence as it tries to kill you and ultimately assimilate you into its being. It's aggressive, throwing everything at you like something out of Berserk's Eclipse, which makes it all the more frightening to you when it quickly erodes the world in Hardmode. It feels like you're running from it even more, given the danger it brings to you. Add onto the fact it feels like an alien presence, unnatural to your world, and you got yourself a good threat to deal with in the back your mind as you search the world for resources. All in all I think Crimson is so much more effective in its role as an Evil Biome.

You forgot the vilethorn, a sadly underappreciated mage weapon. I feel most mages on expert and master mode will agree that having this thing can be a godsend against most pre-hard mode enemies. One cast rapidly ticks out damage and can slow down most enemies to a near halt without pushing them around. Base 10 mana, 10 damage, up to 7 ticks of damage on all enemies it touches, a reach of 15 tiles, and block-piercing? Super helpful.

in general i would chose crimson because: 1. the brain of cuthulu drops the brain of confusion, which gives a 1/6 chance of dodging an attack ( roughly 17% dodge chance) which makes it extremely good vs the empress of light daytime fight 2. ichor 3. the armor set i feel benifits also rangers since it doesent just give melee speed, so i use it on both classes 4. if you are playing meelee you can get the flesh knuckleswich can be made into a hero shield or a berserkers glove ( tho hero shield is not very good because it will only increase your defence by 1 more from the paladins shield) Edit: the shield has been changed to give 10 defence,! 5. and because i like the way that u dont fall into holes when exploring the corruption, and the fact that theres not multiple ways to get inside the crimson! 6. i like the variety of enemies 7. i like a challenge i like both biomes but the crimson i feel has more pros than corruption

Yeah, crimtane armor is a definite useful mid pre-hardmode armor, when you've not quite gone far enough to start primarily focusing. On any one class yet, while shadow armor is more an armor you might get for melee, but you're probably just gonna immediately go for hellstone now that you have nightmare pickaxes

I personally think that corruption is better pre-hardmode, while crimson is better in hardmode. Based off of that, since dryad sells the opposite seeds in a graveyard biome during hardmode, that means that corruption is better to choose as biome choice hardly affects you in hardmode. Even before that, I still would've chosen corruption as it's not certain you'll get all the way through the game. P.s. I really don't like the crimson mob designs, so I have some obvious bias there, despite it being my first biome/s

@@kleesup Corruption is usually the-go-to biome for Ranged players. It has musket from the shadow orbs, a pretty powerful pre-boss gun, and also you have the dart rifle from the mimic. That plus cursed darts can make a joke out of destroyer pretty much. You can also get putrid scent from the mimic which you can combine with the sniper scope to make the recon scope.

Crimson is just as good imo. The main deal is that it has ichor, which is just really good. Undertaker and dart pistol are a bit weaker than their counterparts but they are still viable. Last thing to note is that brain of confusion is now considered better than worm scarf especially in higher difficulties.

I grew up on late 1.0 and 1.1 versions of the game that lacked the crimson, so I'm VERY fond of the corruption. I distinctly remember being gravely confused and upset when I generated a new world for 1.2 and seeing the crimson; it was like coming home expecting my parents but finding a pair of complete strangers. I actually never gave it an honest shake until very recently, I held that grudge for that long lol. I still greatly prefer the corruption for many reasons, but I can't deny that they each contribute their own experiences to an overall playthrough.

Another reason you might prefer the Corruption over the Crimson: Ancient Shadow Armor, functionally identical to regular Shadow Armor, but it drops from Eaters of Souls, thus making it possible to obtain before getting Shadow Scales from the Eater of Worlds. The Crimson has no such equivalent.

One reason for my preference: the Crimson’s generation. Not only are the interior pits of fall damage doom all within a cave that you have to intentionally enter unlike the corruption, but the path zigzags down and branches out in the shape of a hand. So creepy. I love it.

I prefer both on Expert and Master. Specially when the fucking brain of confusion is literally worm scarf level and brain of cthulhu is extremely easy.

I’m playing crimson on for the worthy master mode and it’s really not that bad

@@decomposedcorpse5186 I always choose the crimson, it's the clear winner. with the 1.4 buff, brain of confusion is absolutely OP. I would never use worm scarf over it. It even beats out most end game accessories. Have you even tried using it?

Love both biomes and challenges are fun so sometimes ill just dig a hellevator around one, buy some seeds for the other, and get both in the same world (typically crimson as the world one and i plant corruption cause i dont like the vertical tunnels)
