Hi Becca, I am a qualified psychotherapist and also have had need of some counselling in the past so have experience of both perspectives. You've clearly done a little research for this video as the overall 'feel' is very supportive. I understand that this kind of video is not meant to represent the clinical truth but is primarily for relaxation. You did ask though if this was at all what goes on and, with certain variations based on client psychology and therapeutic method/s applied such as CBT, Gestalt etc, then the answer would probably be yes. Daily sessions are not usual unless the client is institutionalised: therapy tends to be weekly. Also the term 'normal' is rarely used as this sets up the possibility for comparisons. Your understanding of the human needs principle is sound and if you want to find out more the researching Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is my opinion a good starting point. The theory was proposed back in 1943 but for the most part still holds true. Great work. Keep it up x
@BecalmwithBecca7 жыл бұрын
+David Richards Thanks for the insight there. Now you mention it, suggesting something is normal hence putting something else in comparison does make sense to leave it out. Didn't do any research just rather talked from experience as to what I know to be true about my personality and why I do what I do. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
@joakimandersson77697 жыл бұрын
Not to start a comment section fight here, but Maslows theories lack any scientific evidence and can as much be said to hold up as to have been disproven. He basically made it all up, and even though the ideas resonate and some of it could be relevant, there is no backing and no proven application for it :) We also read Maslow when I was in school (I'm a clinical psychologist) but upon further inspection, I have had to re-evaluate his theories, seeing as how they lack support in the scientific evidence :) So I would recommend some other place to start if one was interested in psychology and therapy :)
@BecalmwithBecca7 жыл бұрын
Joakim Andersson I was unaware of this theory before making this video. I just spoke from what I knew to be true about my personality. So there must be some basis to it if we can recognise and pinpoint why we do certain things.
@davidrichards59647 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right, this is no subject about which to start a fight. My reasons for mentioning Maslow were simply to offer a starting point for further exploration bearing in mind that this channel is for relaxation purposes and not serious academic study and sanctioned therapy. Also, not everything that works is based on empirical evidence and some things that have are starting to lose traction such as the widespread use of CBT and some indications that in the long term it can be quite ineffectual as clients relapse after the initial feel good factor. I guess we all find, hopefully, and with help, what works for us as individuals.

I’ve watched several of your videos and find myself thinking that you just have a natural acting ability. I really think you have this amazing quality like you should be famous-which is different from telling someone they ‘could’ be famous- you actually should be!

I’m a new subscriber here, and I just wanted to thank you for uploading quality content that is relaxing and tingly on a regular basis. You are very convincing as a therapist, and you actually gave some helpful advice in this video. I know you probably have a lot of other video ideas that you have to get to. I just wanted to make a possible video request. If you have the time and inclination in the future, I’d love to see a second part to this therapist role play. It was well done and relaxing and it would be interesting to see what the next session would look like. Thanks for helping me get to sleep easier 😊

I'm sure you hear or read this a lot, but I'm from the States & love the "accent." I know. We all have one. I've been in true love with the authentic British since I was a child & hoped someday to marry a man with that ethnicity. My karma must've been good bc indeed my husband(and first honest to G. boyfriend) is of English decent. Unfortunate thing is, he's a Yank like me. Great video. Thank you kindly.
