+Cazmir Nishi I find John's and Paul's equally easy. But George's is so difficult to distinguish in the mix! His harmony is not that hard, once you know where to look for it. Then again, I'm a girl so I can reach all of the notes easily I'm a contralto, (basically the female version of Paul's vocal type). It's probably harder for men, especially that high harmony.

John's part sets the grounds. Paul's part sounds the prettiest with all it's movement, adds the most noticeable harmony. George's part fills in all that's missing and give the harmony a full wall-of-sound blend. George ties it all together and is the hardest (for me). Great harmonies and great ear!

Dominic L I agree with everything but for me Paul would be the hardest because of how fricken high pitched it is. Dominic George´s part is by far the easiest cause he stays i a range of 3 tones mostly. He just has to stay on one tone or has to manage 1- or 2-tone steps wheras Macca and Lennon have to manage some inconvenient intervals. George was a good musician but overshadowed by the two biggies. On the other hand without them I doubt that he would have made it in a different band.

George's part is like a bottom of a pie, John's is a filling, and Paul's is cherries on top of it. Paul's part sounds and looks like a lot of job, and it is because it's high and has some melismas. But I'm sure that for him it wasn't too hard because he's been very good at falsetto. George's part sounds really weird! And hard to follow! I never paid attention to it before because it's not prominent. It's very understated just like George himself. Love it! Especially the way he sings "love is old, love is new, love is all, love is you" - so whistful.... I never thought it could be sung like this.

Thanks for the break down. It's convinced me that at this stage the boys were working on another level. The composition isn't particularly difficult, but it was not like anything they'd done before or since, and it mastered the era of classical/early romantic three part harmony without any of them being able to read music. It's not the most masterly work of music ever, but how they mastered it for just one song is beyond me.
