+Cazmir Nishi I find John's and Paul's equally easy. But George's is so difficult to distinguish in the mix! His harmony is not that hard, once you know where to look for it. Then again, I'm a girl so I can reach all of the notes easily I'm a contralto, (basically the female version of Paul's vocal type). It's probably harder for men, especially that high harmony.

John's part sets the grounds. Paul's part sounds the prettiest with all it's movement, adds the most noticeable harmony. George's part fills in all that's missing and give the harmony a full wall-of-sound blend. George ties it all together and is the hardest (for me). Great harmonies and great ear!

Dominic L see I would agree with you if the longitude of the quantum dimension didn’t coagulate with the protocol of the chemical data of the graduated cylinder, because without that the immunology would be consequently under high octane pressure, which would lead to extravagant levels of bioluminescent radiation. Other wise you but be perfectly correct 🙂
@Lucille_McCartney73

Dominic L I agree with everything but for me Paul would be the hardest because of how fricken high pitched it is. Lol it shouldn’t be that hard since I’m a girl but I’m no choir member and if I was in a choir I would probably be an alto, not a soprano. That reminds me, Paul was actually in choir when he was in school.

Dominic George´s part is by far the easiest cause he stays i a range of 3 tones mostly. He just has to stay on one tone or has to manage 1- or 2-tone steps wheras Macca and Lennon have to manage some inconvenient intervals. George was a good musician but overshadowed by the two biggies. On the other hand without them I doubt that he would have made it in a different band.

I anticipate the Harmonica intro of the latter when this Beatles song ends

It is actually 2 notes at a time, and beautifully, tastefully done, it totally makes the song so much more beautiful... Good luck with this, Janelle James !! You can do it !! Fran Danco

George's part is like a bottom of a pie, John's is a filling, and Paul's is cherries on top of it. Paul's part sounds and looks like a lot of job, and it is because it's high and has some melismas. But I'm sure that for him it wasn't too hard because he's been very good at falsetto. George's part sounds really weird! And hard to follow! I never paid attention to it before because it's not prominent. It's very understated just like George himself. Love it! Especially the way he sings "love is old, love is new, love is all, love is you" - so whistful.... I never thought it could be sung like this.

@@luis.hammett676 no, I disagree, he has the less challenging harmony nearly every time. Having the discipline to stay in his pitch is not a reflection of vocal prowess, Lennon and McCartney both do that too but with better voices. Some of |Georges guitar work is brilliant though and neither Lennon nor mcCartney could replicate THAT

@@luis.hammett676 Good point. It's like bassists or cellos in an orchestra. They get awkward off-beat harmonies and need to follow themselves. They're the foundations of everything while melodies (like violins and maybe even cellos) fall back on the bassists as their metronome. Bassists have a lotta focus and patience I'll give them that LOL. Each Beatle was great in their own right.

Thanks for the break down. It's convinced me that at this stage the boys were working on another level. The composition isn't particularly difficult, but it was not like anything they'd done before or since, and it mastered the era of classical/early romantic three part harmony without any of them being able to read music. It's not the most masterly work of music ever, but how they mastered it for just one song is beyond me.

Whoever heard this in their heads to put the voices and instruments in place are highly exceptionally talented people. You take it apart, and it is not much. You put it all together, and it is a rare gem

Every now and again you hear something that you'd ' forgotten " the Beatles had written. Just like this. And you're stunned all over again by their inexplicable genius. Words fail .!

I liked this video when I heard John's part. Then when he started doing George's bit I went to like it again but obviously couldn't haha. Fantastic. My favourite Beatles song.

Thank you -- this is wonderful, especially since I've got George's part, which is, by far the most subtle and therefore difficult. I would, by nature, be able to do the Paul part much easier. But thanks to you, I can now do all three :)

Great, great job. I've got my wife learning Paul's part, I'm doing John's and my son is learning George's. I could always hear John and Paul's parts, but never George's. Same way with This Boy. Thanks so much.

you do a great service to those of us 'ear players' who were never quite able to untangle the thicket of parts that make up this incredible song! It is really strange how, on breakdown, some of them seem 'counterintuitive' after years of listening to the finished product ... vocal harmony is a strange beast!
