I live in the Charlotte metro area which is outside of the storm damage in western N.C. My uncle was monitoring the 2m repeater on Mt Mitchell a few days after the storm and heard someone around the Rockingham area searching for info for a relative in the Black Mountain area, he my uncle then contacted the net controller for water that day during a net broadcast. After passing on the info for the missing person my uncle was notified later that the person was safe which he passed on to the relatives in Rockingham
