I lost my andansonii, that I bought online, to mealy bugs in 2019. Luckily, I thoughtfully propagated it as soon as I got it. Now atleast I have the propagations left. Protip - Always propagate your plant if it's rare and if you are sure you are going to kill it! It is less likely that you will kill two plants! 😂 Aww, cute Leo! 💞

I often watch your videos when I'm not logged in, but I'm definitely subscribed. I only logged in now to tell you how handsome and clean Leo looks at the end there. I love watching his sniffy shenanigans. But since I'm here....plant rant. Sometimes the individual plant is just difficult and I must admit I have never really liked my rootbound Phil xanadu. I repotted it, but still don't like it. Maybe I should put it on the patio. Maybe I should give it away. However, I have also learnt not to get too upset when they die. It is kind of a relief and if they are not happy in my home, then I will cherish the plants that are. I have also killed a lot this year with the change of seasons and not understanding the optimal water/light requirements before it's too late or buying a 'rescue plant' (not worth it) or mysterious ailments (browning tips that spread until the leaf softens falls off). Thank God for Golden Pothos. My worst fear is to get some kind of pest infestation like thrips. Also, don't wanna move now you said that.

I think it would be awesome if you try to give your Xanadu to someone else. I love that plant. I have been wanting it for a year almost. I finally found it and just bought one yesterday. One man's trash is other man's treasure, I guess! Good luck finding it a new owner 💕

It’s good to know that sometimes plants just die, and it’s not something we can necessarily control. I can’t, for the love of me, keep spider plants alive. @BeccaDeLaPlants5 жыл бұрын
Hi! I only water it when the leaves start to curl. It’s currently sitting about 10 ft from an east window. That’s all I do! Lower leaves (older leaves) will turn yellow as the plant starts putting its energy into new growth. It’s just natural!

Adansonii are one of those plants that you have to learn their needs, then they are easy. Mine I use a moisture meter and only water when dry. They also need plenty of light, a light airy potting mix and you are all set. Without a moisture meter, they can be tricky to water. An older leaf will yellow when they are making new ones, but too many yellow leaves usually mean over-watering. Mine also doesn't like my tap water AT ALL.

I have a had a fittonia die on me this year also. A crispy wave fern, 2 kangaroo ferns, 2 alocacias, variegated prayer plant, and a tradescantia, (still struggling to keep my back up tradescantia alive through water propagation.) Oh and a glorious variegated wax ivy and a grape leaf ivy due to spider mites. The others died due to moving accidents, and neglect (spent a lot of time on my new veg garden at new house.) All which hurts more because I have to source most of my indoor plants when im out of town. There is no selection at all in my tiny remote town. Gah. All part of the process right? 🌿

Hi Becca, I'm trying to catch up on all of my videos, life got crazy busy and I have missed my plant tubers. I would love to get a Monstera Adansonii, it is on my wish list, and either the long version or the wide leaf version, I just would love one. I have a fittonia and just recently added to it to make a fuller plant and so far it's doing okay, I love this plant and it may not be the most beautiful but it is still a pretty plant and I love her. I refuse to buy anymore ivy's because they start out so great then they go downhill and end up with spidermites and that just creeps me out so no more Ivy's for this gal. You have nothing to be ashamed of, sad like the rest of us that have lost plants, but I have killed my share of plants over the years, I had a very large string of hearts that died, a ponytail palm, a velvet Calathea, and many Ivy's. But over the years I have learned so much about watering and repotting, and a lot of it I have learned from my plant Tubers with the tips and tricks and just the great videos that you and a lot of others have put out. Thank you as always I just really appreciate the content you give us and look forward to each and every video. Have a great day and I will see you soon, especially since I am binge watching the videos I have missed, Love you, hugs and bye for now.

This is very embarrassing but I need to get it out of my chest : on my first online purchase, I saw that there were a couple of options for the shipping. Of course, I - wanting to save money - picked the cheapest one, which arrives in 2-4 days. I ordered an Oxalis Triangularis, a Philodendron Brazil, and a Peace Lilly. I thought they were going to pack them in their pots, in a big box. I've never watched unpacking plants videos, so I did not know that soilles packaging was even possible. I was shocked to see that they arrived in a long flat box. They all arrived in a sad condition. Long story short, all of them died after a couple of days, except for the Philodendron Brazil. That happened probably around 2 years ago, and the Philodendron Brazil is still alive and thriving today 😌❤️ Thanks for listening to my story, have a great day! 😂🌻

Nope! My own idea. “Plant funeral” was a video I made in the first few months being on KZbin 😁

I killed 3 plants in December because I left them on my patio and we had an "artic freeze" in Texas. I've been actually sad about it because they were all thriving prior. Then to top it off my succulents got attacked by mealybugs bugs so I used the "soap and water method"...which was a huge mistake because they immediately died too😭

Ahhh :((( so sad when they freeze!

I've killed so many 😥 the one I was the most upset about was my burro's tail that my cats murdered. Thanks for sharing!

I killed an alocasia this year too :( really upset me because I’d been wanting one for SO long but I bought it with spidermites unknowingly and that plus possibly not enough light are what killed it

Well this at least makes me feel a little better about some of the plants I couldn't manage to keep alive! 😂 I feel less alone on the struggle.

Have you tried a terrarium for them?? I have a couple in terrariums that I water like 2 or 3x a year!

My ferns all die. Idaho is just too dry. I just can’t keep succulents alive either. I think I underwater them which I’m not sure is possible. I lose interest too. I try and give it away before I kill it. Haha
@BeccaDeLaPlants5 жыл бұрын
😂😂 I admire you for giving them away before they die! That’s my hope for this year

You can do it! I know it!

I'm killing things but not through LACK of attention. Quite the opposite (except for that lovely cactus - what happened lovely cactus?). I need to find a youtube video where somebody explains how to build a plant sanitorium. You know - like a place to put the poorly plants that will give them ramped up conditions for being healthy. I have an outhouse. I could build a plant hospital in there. We can't have absolutely perfect houseplant conditions all over our homes - but we could have a small portion of a shed, or outhouse, where there is a little hospital. There could be a quarantine area, too. I'm thinking heat pads, strategically positioned grow lights, humidifiers etc. Becca puts sick plants on her patio and it's, basically, a prognosis of death. There has to be a better way.

Oh yeah a plant hospital would be a great video!! Definitely has to be a better way than my patio 😬

Ughhh I hate thrips. I lost a cactus to them, weird thing was they were only infesting one plant when there were many next to each other. I’m even a pest control technician and used my company’s product on the plant with the infestation and it did NOTHING -.- I just threw it away, I tried saving a single piece by treating it with alcohol, and isolating it but it died because I forgot about it/gave up LMAO

Goo thing it was only on one plant though! Sheesh, too bad to lose the plant but good riddance with the stress 😂

The burgundy rubber tree and ficus behind you aren't looking great either... maybe your dog has been sabotaging them? That's a lot of plants to have died in such a short time. Focusing on one at a time builds a relationship and then you can understand what they need. This hoarding mentality I see in social media is crazy! Plants aren't worth it if they're making you stressed for sure.
@BeccaDeLaPlants5 жыл бұрын
I’ve expressed in the past my struggles with ficus in the past, those were in rough condition before Leo. I’m learning, and thankfully they’re on the up and up :)
@leelamarie5135 жыл бұрын
Becca De La Plants that’s great! I was watching him sniffing them and was like uh oh! I’m sorry if my comment came off negative. I think I was genuinely affected by the deaths lol! And I’ve been frustrated lately with some plant KZbin channels I’m subscribed to and lumped it in with my comment to you :( I love your channel :) I just won’t watch the death videos ;)
@eliashaid40135 жыл бұрын
letting a plant die because you don't like the way it looks anymore is the dumbest reason ever. Plants are still living organisms and yes they might not feel pain but still, why didn't you just gift them to someone or sell them?
@BeccaDeLaPlants5 жыл бұрын
That’s very true! I’m working on that this year :)
