One of the best tutorials I've seen for mixing paint - and I've seen quite a few over the last couple of years! Very helpful and informative and explained in a manner that is simple and easy. Only thing is it's a little bit hard to see your measuring clearly with the background being white but with your explanations it didn't matter too much. Thank you Becca 😊😊

Amazon has a strainer lid for Floetrol that screws on, and you can keep on and put the main lid back on over it. Tracie Reed may have them, too. I started with a piece of a nylon stocking, but it sagged too much when I would pour it.

I've been doing the same thing with the stockings to strain it as I use it. It's so easy and efficient. I do the same thing on paints, too, if I happen to catch on to the bottle of paint containing "things" of various sorts within it. One time I had Artist Loft bottles of white that had little things in the paint. It took me a while to figure out where it was coming from as I kept getting these tiny little blobs all through my dried paintings. It was so annoying. Eventually I figured out it was those bottles of white it was coming from, and I put the panty hose strainer on them. It works like a charm! Great minds figure out the same sorts of things. 😉 Yes, definitely - get the floetrol in, then the paint, mix that up, and THEN start mixing in bits of water, a little at a time so you don't over do it accidentally. Fixing that is not as easy as just doing it gradually and stopping when it is correct in consitency. I've noticed that works best for me as well, and, like you, LOL, I did not start out having that realization. I sure did NOT start out putting in the products in that order back in the beginning! LOL 🤣 But doing it other ways was a fabulous teacher. Great video! 🥰

Hello again. I watch a lot of different artists so I can learn, learn, learn. There is one artist who uses regular house paint for her pillow. Any comments on that? Also, although I love the simplicity of your recipes, some artists have different recipies for straight pours vs a cell activator. Any comments on that? Thank you again.

Generally regular house paint is used for the bloom technique-very thick paints. This recipe is for Dutch pours which uses the hair dryer.

Just stumbled on your channel and I’m so glad I did. I have a Cricut cutting machine and I switch between projects so sometimes I forget how to do things such as mix the paints. I remember watching Olga and other Dutch pour artists and they all seemed to have a different approach to mixing the paints. You, however, have taken away my confusion. Thanks for the simple instructions. I’m currently working on my craft room organizing and now I can’t wait to get done so I can start doing the painting again. The only thing I noticed was that sometimes, when you were showing the paints, the camera didn’t pick it up. It was maybe too high. I am definitely subscribing and will be watching.

Hi Becca! I actually just sent you a message on Facebook. I've been doing fluid art for about 3 years and have tried and tried to get this technique down. Your video is the closest and most consistent that I've came! Thank you SO SO MUCH! I'm going to spread the word and let people know that this is the video to watch. It helped me so much and I am so thankful. I think that nobody else gets as close as you got to the camera with the cups so that we could really see in there and see the consistency for ourselves. Or at least that's how I feel! I do you have one question now though. I feel like my edges are too hard. They need to be more wispy, if that makes sense. Does that mean that my consistency still is not fluid enough? Will send pictures of what I'm talking about in the Facebook message. Much love from Myrtle Beach South carolina!

Hi Becca I am thoroughly enjoying your videos and always learn so much. I wonder if you could explain your mix that you keep in your squirt bottles ? I ask because I have yet to see recipes for large batch preparation for squirt bottles and on the other hand that you shouldn’t mix large quantities because pouring medium and Floetrol should not be left for too long before using ?

This is a great demonstration for mixing paints. I love that you did the super up-close view. Great job in getting those shots in! I have noticed when I let my mixed paints sit on the shelf for a few days or longer they tend to thicken a little. I usually do a new test before I just jump in and use the paints on an actual canvas from pre-mixed paints I had ready and adjust if needed. Maybe your experience is different? Love the video.
