I've been trying to find out if CTS-XHP steel can be patina. If you or anyone else knows, can you please reply? Thank you

+mister smith I wish I could give you advice...I honestly only know how the steels that I have worked with behave...mostly 1095, 01, A2, 5160, and 1070 in terms of blades I have added a patina to. The only other thing I can add is that I believe CTS-XHP has a high Chromium content, which would tend to make it behave more like a stainless steel, thus resisting the effects of a patina. If there is enough chromium you might find that it won't patina at all...but I don't have any practical experience with CTS-XHP. I'll certainly pass on more info if I come across it!

How did you color the handle scales ?
@outerlimitless7 жыл бұрын
They are all micarta aftermarket scales...the scales are slightly different colors on the BK9 and BK7...darker on the 9...a bit more tan on the 7. The handle scales on the BK11 are the same tan as the BK7...and they are bolt on factory scales. You can basically buy these a number of places...do a search online or go to KABAR directly...and I generally get my stuff from eBay when I find it. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

+I-Theist Ya, I have my eyes out for a bk16. It looks like a great companion to the bk9. I feel like that an optimum combo! Thanks for watching!
