@Tenskwatawa4U7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and probably real late at night if you can find one that's open 24 hours. I want to do that to my BK7. One thing I did to the handle, which is like nearly a 0 on the grippyness scale, is I cut a length of bicycle inner tube, soaped the handle up a little (the fun part) and slid it on. You'll catch hell trying to get the thing on without KY or your favorite lube... I used the ribbed portion of the inner tube for extra grip. This works really great; I recommend it.

I sold it. But yes did it the exact same way.
@pendejo64669 жыл бұрын
Living Survival Hey Ben, I stripped my BOB, however while the black coat peeled right off, there seems to be another coat of something beneath it. And because of it, the knife won't strike my ferro rod. How did you get it off? This BK9 looks like it stripped entirely.
@livingsurvival9 жыл бұрын
Pendejo sanded it starting with 40 grit and worked up to 1500+ grit. It most likely doesn't strike the rod because of the spine is not sharp enough. I always used the blade to strike my rod (even though people call me crazy)
@WeenieHutJr699 жыл бұрын
Doesn't scrubbing it with a wire brush run the risk of scratching the knife? Excuse my ignorance

Man, that's a lot of work/time/resources and dryer abuse to put into a $100 knife. Hopefully Ka-bar will have more clearcoat Becker options available soon, like the sold out BK39. If you agree, contact them and let them know through the Ka-bar website contact option. I think many buyers would appreciate a alternative to the gritty black finish that looks like crap in short order of use.

Everyone is using plastic gloves and plastic spoons! This stuff dissolves plastic and keeps wood and metal intact. A spoon is going to melt and leave some of the product inert. Just use a stick or something.

Diamond stones are the fastest way to sharpen knife/tool steels. Any of the knife "experts" here on YT that criticize certain premium steels as hard to sharpen are oblivious to the diamond stone options.

@@livingsurvival When I get caught doing something that my wife would have a fit over . Example Valentines Day a few years ago . I had a bag of lemons and a bottle of tequila . My plan was to have a few drinks with her and than go upstairs if you know what I mean wink wink . But she got home late and my bag of lemons was gone , which didn't matter to much because the bottle was empty . When she walk in and saw me sh*t faced she said . Why did you drink so much ? That's basically what she said I just left out the curse words . I looked her in the eyes or in the general direction and said . " Its not my fault its yours . I had no adult supervision !! " Please feel free to use this line next time you get busted by your wife . It doesn't work like a Jedi mind trick , " these are not the droids you're looking for " . In fact it doesn't really work at all . But it does break the ice , just be careful she doesn't push you in the hole : )
