I watched all your videos on framing. Can you do a video on the point driver and putting the wire and hanger in the back? It sounds dumb but I am very visual. Thanks!

Wood and mod podge arent too acidic for preservation? I am new to do anything besides cheap frame , I don't generally mat because i like the look of minimalist frames, plus $$ and wall real estate are expensive - but have been reading you want to keep art an inch from any wood because of acidity.

Since this video I have learned that there is a special Mod Podge that is acid free and I now highly recommend Acrylic gel Medium for using to glue paper down instead of modpodge and acid free glue because the gel medium protects the paper from anything getting through to interact with the paper.

I just started using Raymar aluminum panels and love them & don’t think I am going back. Just exploring frames now. I have to get more info on varnish vs wax. This video is very helpful. Thanks!!

I am very interested in your comments on using Dorlands wax to avoid glass and matting. I’ve tried it before, but always ended up with a a light gloss finish with one coat, even if I didn’t buff it. And if I put two coats on it and buffed it, it looks like a high gloss painting and did not retain that lovely matte finish that I value in watercolor. Can you comment on that and or make a suggestion? I am seeing this approach on a Facebook site and seems very popular. Interesting that you see a difference in the sales price when you use it and drop the glass. Thank you so much.

I don't find that I get a gloss finish after I wax the paper... if I use a really heavy amount then it looks a bit wet and shiny but I feel that is too much wax. one isn't supposed to put on a heavy amount. If you want a shiny surface one is supposed to put on a couple of small amounts and after each small amount you let it dry and buff it. I only put on a small amount and rub it into the paper and when it is dry most of the time one can't even tell that I put wax on the paper. I think most people think it has to be thick but a small amount is enough to protect the surface. I definitely see a difference in sales and price and galleries that don't take watercolors behind glass will take watercolors that don't have glass and that are framed like oils.

Hi David. I recently purchased a tempera watercolor print from 1924. Is it okay to frame it without glass? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.😊
@BeckerArt Жыл бұрын
Is it a print or an original tempera painting? If it is a paper print I would use glass if it's an original tempera you can mount it to a panel and then wax the tempra and then frame it without glass

Hi David. It's a replica of an oil painting. But the Tempera Water Color on the print is all original. It's on fairly heavy paper. It's 100 years old this year. I can even see some paint drip marks on the edge of the print. Any help would be appreciated. @@BeckerArt

@@sinatralala Since it is that old I think you should protect it under glass and with a mat around it, that way you know it will be protected.
