What a super star, he’s really moving forward in leaps and bounds before you know it Beckham will be sitting, talking, crawling and everything else. You have done fabulously. The advantage of bolus feeding is that you are simultaneously training Beckham to understand what a full and empty tummy is. Also, the extra fluid will teach him about thirst, and that will help you with his drinking and he will be off of thickener before you know it too. Rachel, I’m so happy this has gone so well, and you have been vindicated in your decision. No one knows their child like their mother. Follow your gut within safe parameters and know that it will guide you true. I’m so sorry that PTSD has struck so nastily at this juncture. Often times when we are busy in life, we process our emotions to the point where we can go on living, and then out of the blue it strikes. Our body knows what we are capable of processing and when we are triggered, it’s bringing to our attention a matter that requires attention. As someone living with complex PTSD that is stacked, I speak from my experience. My hope is you won’t feel so alone, or disappointed. Just tackle it one layer at a time. How do you eat an elephant, well just one mouthful at a time. Sometimes we think we need to fill our mouth with four or five simultaneously. I think you are rocking this life. Use Hunter as your shore anchor but don’t be afraid to leave the shore, to see the panorama. By this I don’t mean leave Hunter behind, just lean on him a little less when you don’t need to. I think you are each other’s shore anchor. Clearly you love each other, you are definitely moving forward in the right direction. Thank you for sharing that beautiful episode of your divine son chatting to you and Hunter. It was balm to my soul after a particularly challenging day. Little Miss Blakely loves her brother because you’ve taught her to. I think she understands more than you think. To her it is just a case of he can’t but I can, like you saw with the ball. I bet Beckham is loving seeing the world from different perspectives. Keep doing what you doing as your children are thriving.

When kids throw things from the high chair and someone picks it up and gives it back to them over and over again, it gives them a sense of control. Because let's be honest they can't control much since overall parents are controlling their whole day. Letting Beckham do this over and over would really be good for his confidence. Love him.

Love the Beckham conversation, that was amazing. He's on his way to be able to use his voice more to communicate. Being more comfortable with a full belly and more fluids is already making a difference.. Keep on going girl, you know you own child best. Often docs cushion what we do to prevent problems, but reading you own child is key to helping him progress at the "Beckham progress pace" not what the charts tell us!

He really seems to be also putting things in his mouth a lot more, obviously you would know more than I do but it seems like he is really doing hand to mouth more which is going to translate into him being able to feed himself. Beckham is voicing!! ❤️ He acts like he is feeling so much better. His alertness and color are great! I have a feeling he will start progressing so much faster now that he’s receiving the nutrients and hydration needed for a growing boy through his G-tube. Keep up the good work Beckham! Before long you will be saying “mama” and “Dada”. Rachel, I love the sign language you are using with him, “finished”, “more” and “eat”. It will enhance his language development 100 times over. Hopefully he will start imitating and copying the signs you are using.Beckham is on his way! Hang on for the ride!! PS I’ve watched Beckham and he is very intelligent. Nurturing that intelligence gives him the tools he will need to grow and develop. He’s a fine little boy!❤️

I totally understand PTSD, especially related to illness and medical issues after my own health crisis a few years ago. Please don't share because you feel like you owe it to us. If sharing causes an unhealthy amount of anxiety and flashbacks, don't share anything that will affect your mental health. At the same time, I can say that as much as that environment or negative experience can set back your mental health, having a positive experience (such as how well Beckham is doing with the G tube) in a situation where the trauma happened can be a tiny bit healing. 💕💕

Yeah I cried with u in that video of the hospital. Rachel u r a strong women and mother and wife. I can not imagine going through what u did and then still having to do even more for years and years with Beckham. I mean I’m a disaster with mental health right now but for other reasons and i don’t know what I’d do if I was in your situation. Mothers of disabled children are literally my heroes. And then u upload a video like every day and your house is clean and u have an able bodied toddler. And u r a wife: damn it Rachel I am so proud of I doing all this. I’m like damn how does she get all this done and her children are just the happiest little monsters ever. Great job Rachel. Try to remember on those bad days that you are literally doing so damn much on a daily basis and that it’s ok to just cry and be sad some days. I do and I’m not doing nearly as much as u r. Lmao. Anyways u should know by now that I’ve adopted your family into my heart and I hope u know if I ever give a suggestion or something that I promise it’s all out of love and just little things I’ve learned throughout being a mother. U know little things I wish someone told me when my babies were small. I treat u like my best friend even though we never met. Lol. So I’d never say anything that would hurt your feelings. I’m just telling u this cause sometimes I read back my posts and think omg I should have said that in a different way. And if I do ever say something u take wrong please call me out. I love to learn how to be a better person. I’m only human so I make mistakes I just try to learn from them when possible.

Have you thought about getting him an iPad to communicate when he gets older? My friend is non verbal and she uses an iPad to tell what she wants or needs by showing pictures or anything.
