I still think he’s hugely underrated because he’s so famous. He did it in different countries and played with some of the best all time players. He was also in the world player of the year question and was an excellent England captain and player. I’d actually take his career over that of Giggs, Scholes, Keane etc who stayed at one club.

David Beckham isn't as appreciated these days because, he wasn't player who had real foot speed or a skilled trickster. The kind of player who always catches the eyes of fans watching. But what he could do in terms of his ranged passing and crossing ability was definitely amongst the elite. He had great vision allied to an ability to release the pass or cross quickly even under marking. And his passing range was something like 70 metres and still delivered with accuracy. His crossing was perhaps even better often bending the football inwards or outwards behind defences with accuracy. And because he had such range of passing he was a danger from almost anywhere on the pitch. I once remember that Gary Lineker once said if he had had David Beckham. Playing on the same England national football team as him, that he would have scored another ten goals. Just because David Beckham passing and crossing ability was that good.
